also, as long as its not charged upfront, you can get all the content up to the 100 tier for one dollar 💵 (minus joining the live call in the discord which requires proof of purchase) just by switching tiers during the month before the 1st hits. I know its not about the money but there's people who do this :/ I know this cause on the first 100 tier audio, which was daichi, no one was charged 100 it was a total freebie lol I was charged for the next two, kirishima and gojo cause I stayed on the tier, but then had to leave so I'm on the 25 since then.

Personally, I have no data (internet aside from places with wifi) so for me, the downloads are a way to listen to things offline. Also, paying the day you subbed on each month will not only be a way of ensuring less reposting, but additionally make it more fair for people who end up subbing at the end of one month and then immediately paying again at the beginning of the next month. It will encourage more loyalty imo.

In my experience, charge up front still processes on the 1st - it just processes that FIRST payment immediately instead of giving a free month.

I'm good with either option to be honest. Will need to look into what day I actually subscribed but as long as you are healthy and as happy as you can be cece, I am fine. Also don't wanna lose the download option cause Patreon doesn't offer repeat as far as I know and playing those sleep aids on repeat is phenomenal

Also, I have creators who charge upfront and the charges on the payment method all pretty much come in on the first day anyway. maybe on the second day or a day earlier depending on their timezone. This will only really affect the first payment since you'll be charged right away for that month. but all succeeding payments remain on the first day of the month.

I voted for the day of sign up mostly because the 1st is hard and sometimes I miss payments by a week because EVERYTHING comes out on the first and the higher up bills sometimes miss out cause they take what's avalible. So to move it would give me more of a chance to not miss a payment. I have about 4 bills due on the 1st and then like 4 patreon subs sooo to lessen that some and then I can stagger payments evenly some.

I also just found that on the patreon support page, that upfront payment would mean that you pay as soon as you join the patreon AND you would pay again on the 1st of every month. For example, if you made a pledge on the 25th of February you would then pay again on the 1st of March. However, this does not affect current patreons and we would just continue to pay on the 1st of every month. With what Cece said, I'm not sure if you can change it, but I just thought knowing this may help soothe people.

Okay I’m not an expert but the things people are complaining about are a none issue. I’ve had subs to upfront and none upfront patreons and they always charge on the first of the month. The difference is you’re charged when you first subscribe. If you subscribe the 14 of august you’re charged and then charged again on the 1st of september for the month of sept. Which is completely fair because your first charge grants you access to all previous posts regardless of whether or not you “missed out on 14 days”. Cece please do what you feel is best. I know you want to do right by your patrons but this is truly a non-issue and should not be up to us anyway.

The only reason I say the 1st (for those who don't understand why it matters to some people) is because that's what every patreon I am following currently and have ever followed does. And because of that, I have a reminder on my phone at the end of the month to review subscriptions before charges go through because sometimes I need to change tiers or unsubscribe for a bit from one or several of my patreons. Now I'm not gonna leave if Cece decides to do this. Ultimstely if it's what's best for her I support it and will just have to set a second reminder which isn't a big deal. But if the poll is purely which we *prefer* - that's why I'd say 1st of the month.

I much prefer the 1st of the month because I know it’s coming out. I like all of my bills payed at the same time personally. That being said I’m not against the other way- I just have a preference.

So I'm just trying to make sure I understand correctly and so I did a search back through my emails and it looks like I first signed up 8/31 around 10:30pm est last year and got charged the next day. If we move to sign-up day charges then I would get charged on the last day of every month? Thats not so bad, not really a difference for me.

As it's a decision that would help the business in general and prevent reposters to a degree, I agree 100% in changing the payment to be up front. I do believe you should make the decision Cece, specially because the solution for the people who prefer to be billed on the first is a simple one, just unsubscribe and subscribe again on the day you prefer to be charged. Considering the benefits it would bring to your patreon, I don't think this is too much of an inconvenience for the patrons, definitely not enough to stop you changing it. Also, for new patrons, it prevents double billing incidents when people subscribe by the end of a month. EDIT: And also! You give us so much content for super accessible prices while still keeping the download option!! You're more than in the right of doing what's best for you, it's not a harmful change if you're keeping up your quality ^^

They get the content for the month, then sign up under another email to get it free again after a few months. They should be charged from the first day. In Patreon, if you sign up the last few days you don't get charged until the new month.

You may want to unsubscribe for a month or so and then we subscribe at the beginning of the month that way you would still be charged at the beginning of the month because that's when you signed up again

I think you should do how you want. This is your patreon and if you would like to charge upfront, then you should do it. There's nothing wrong with that. Also if someone would like to be charged on the first for any reason, they could simply unsubscribe and resubscribe again on the first, if this is that important for them. Nothing would change. I couldn't care less when I get charged, I put the 25$ for you to the side anyway and it doesn't affect me when exactly this money is charged. I don't really know if this change would stop reposter tbh. But regardless, if you feel more comfortable charging upfront, you should do it. You already give us your high quality content for cheap compared to other content creators and even give us the option to download it. The download option is also very important to me, let alone for sleep aids that I listen to with a sleep timer on my music player and I also have my phone on flight mode during night. Also turning off downloads probably also wouldn't help anyway, since it is still possible to record audio on PC. It would make it harder, but not impossible. It's like giving people a trial period and that was nice of you to do. but yes, patreon is so glitchy that people get unsubscribed routinely when the first day of the months rolls. it tells you that theres a problem with your card or form of payment when you've been using the same thing since the beginning and theres no problem with it.

But whats to stop them from doing what they're already doing if you change it to this? The date will be displayed on their pledge page. Sure some may forget but not all will. I feel like the second option is a good one. Seeing as a lot of people will take advantage of you it will help make it harder for anyone to do that. Plus I’m seeing a lot of people complain about it. If you wanna be charged on the 1st. Pay upfront on the 1st. It can’t be that hard to remember or have the finances to do it. Some people have different charge days. And I think it’s fair that they be charged when they sub and continue that. I usually start my subscriptions on the 1st or beginning of the month to make things cleaner because I also have payments that happen at the start of the month. Plus also we can enjoy everything from you directly and it will also keep trolls and psycho’s from sabotaging this safe space. In the end it’s all up to you and what you’ll find beneficial for us and yourself.

Cece just a suggestion, I would also recommend making another poll as well, cause I'm seeing a lot of comments with people saying they are unable to pay until the first of the month, and I'm not sure if it's known that you can unsubscribe and resubscribe on the 1st of the month. Addressing this may help understand, with this as an option, would they be okay with the second option because I find that out of both options the second may be better for you.

I think the upfront make the most sense and is the safest option, as some people are likely to join and then duck out before they are charged. Some who need the first of the month can always make that their upfront day, as well! In the end though, whichever works best ffor you and that you are happy with is what's best! But as a person who has both a messy financial situation and seen how people reposts your content elsewhere, changing it to upfront payment is the best actionto take. I also heard from a friend of mine who also follows you as well that there are people bold enough to monetize your content or ask for donations so they can pay the tier fee each month to download and repost, which really disgust me. Just a few months ago there was a really nasty comment in one of those channels that was accusing you again, probably thinking that it was your channel (probably a parent of a minor), and it was very difficult to explain that the Google age restriction can be easily bypassed by changing age on the account and access age restricted content on YouTube... But yeah... in my opinion, the upfront charge is the best action to take. (I wish I had enough IT knowledge to hack those reposting accounts and delete them...)

I dont care as long as people are not getting free content we are paying for. The amount of times I've seen $100 tier content being re-posted somewhere, when I being a decent human being paid for it. Honestly was the reason why I dropped the $100 tier because it wasn't worth paying that much for something that was being posted on sound cloud after. Do what you feel is right when it comes to reposting. IMO, the most important thing is making reposting more difficult. Whatever you feel you need to do to prevent it is best. I’ve seen way too many minors on reposts of your content (totally not your fault, but reposters don’t age restrict anything), and I’ve seen way too many people hate-watching and commenting nasty things about you and your content. A lot of the people hate-watching are also minors (what is it with kids and injecting themselves into 18+ spaces, and complaining that 18+ content makes them uncomfortable?? It’s not made for you! Go away!)

I've seen your audios reposted to a few other places so I know people stealing them really is a problem. For me it wouldn't make too much of a difference, but I'm on a lower tier as it is. On a separate note, I do wish there was a way to see what I'm missing in other tiers. I've thought a few times about moving up a tier but I wish I could see how many posts or even what the titles are on them first. I thought I had seen it in other Patreon pages, but I don't see that here.

Um Im fine with changing it to 30 days from subscribe date, thats how most services operate anyway. Honestly its nice of you to ask but you really should just announce the change. It is Your patreon and it should be how You want it. You are the artist, it is Your work being consumed. Does Netflix ask when people pay? Chewy? Xbox? No, no, nope. If people arent willing to go along with the terms you set then they dont deserve to consume the content. Figuring out their finances is their problem not yours. Everyone here should be an adult and able to figure their stuff out. It makes me sad (and a bit disgusted) to hear there are people who subscribe and then unsuscribe before paying. That sucks. Honestly do whats best for you. Take care, get some rest, hydrate, and do something to make yourself happy, cuz you make lots of others happy all the time. Best wishes.

Things are very tight for me money-wise, and the first of the month is usually when I know for a fact that I’ll have the money to pay rather than at another time where I’m not sure if I’ll actually have it. This ^^ I was never looking for Cece to begin with but found out about her through SoundCloud after having fallen asleep to My Neighbor Totoro music. But it’s really incredible how Cece can post today and then 2-3 days from now it’s up on SC for anyone to hear and for anyone to criticize (especially those who are stuck on the “scandal” and don’t know the whole story but toss misinfo around as though it’s their duty) and it’s bullshit to me. If I did what Cece does, I’d absolutely want to protect my content the best to my ability. Not saying she can’t or won’t or isn’t, the choice to do so is hers alone to make. But I personally would.

I prefer the first of the month since that's when all my other Patreon stuff comes out but no big stress if it changes 😁 I can always unsubscribe and resubscribe to change the date to keep it in line. I do appreciate being able to download the audios though since I don't always have the most reliable internet

being charged on the day you sign up makes sense for a few reasons. 1. some people don’t always get paid the first 2. a lot of people sign up then unsubscribe before the charge date which sucks for creators 3. people can still pay on the first if they prefer, just unsubscribe then resubscribe to keep the 1st the date for you (at least I think that’d work) I really don’t see a downside to being charged upfront.

I personally prefer it as is since on my own financial schedule, everything i absolutely need, is paid on the 1st. I also have no idea when i subscribed. As a random question, if the changed scheduel is applied n you upgraded, your payment charge would be the new date of your applied upgrade, correct? At any rate, if the scheduel gets changed , this is hypothetically, for September, can i unsubscribe on August 30th n subscribe on the first, to just reset with the new plan, if thats voted on? I can do that, Im just unsure of how generally, Patreon would apply that. If that route is possible, Id probably do that if, with the new schedule, it can discourage people from taking audios n reposting them on other platforms without your permission. Either way im for keeping as is or unsubscribing n resubbing on the 1st so that things stay the same on my end.

I actually prefer being charged on the 1st as that's when most of my debits happen. As for downloading, please keep it. My wifi can be quite laggy and I sometimes enjoy listening to the audios in my car where no wifi is available.

That’s actually how I found out about you in the first place, through SoundCloud. And no, not just your YouTube content, but your paid Patreon content. I’m 25 tier as it is and I found 3 100 tier audios of yours on SoundCloud so I can understand if that can be upsetting because I would be. Not only that, you can’t filter who hears your content since anyone can be on SC.

I think upfront is good, I always struggled when I would join the last week of the month pay full price and then be charged again on the 1st... But how would that impact those who have been members for a while now? Cause for those that have been here 30 days from our last payment date is still going to be the 1st?

Ultimately I think it comes down to how people are paid. For me, I pay all my bills and other things on the 1st or towards the beginning of the month. So that’s how I keep track of my expenses. However, it’s not that big of a deal and I’m happy with whatever works best for everyone 😊 Also, please keep the download!!! I have bad service and it helps so so so so much! 🙏🏾

I don't mind changing the date at all and I think it's really wise for creators to make this change as soon as they begin to avoid problems with fake supporters. 100% approve of the change. My only question is how that would work for current supporters as far as the first charge after the switch. Will the charge date change for next month and we ride this one out until then or would we be getting the next charge immediately and end up paying twice in one month? I really think it's something that needs to be done to protect your efforts. You give us so much content and put so much work into these audios. It is entirely unfair to you for people to manipulate the system and disrespect your hard work. Not to mention your real supporters who pay every month, interact with you, and would lose out on things because of a few bad apples. Make the change for the sake of protecting your content and the collective experience!

I believe you should charge upfront many charge upfront for the same reason of illegal uploads and copyriggt issues. I love that we can download especially bc my internet tends to just go down and is has difficulty in connecting so downloads are a personal life saver. But of course do whatever is best for you :D

I understand needing to do what's best for yourself as a creator, but I really hope you do keep the charge date at the first of the month. Honestly I don’t wanna lose the option for downloading. I love to keep the audios I love stored on my laptop while I write / draw because Patreon is buggy for me sometimes. Example: When I try to go back to old audios and try to press “load more” the site will tank for me. It will freeze up and I have to type in the audio I want to hear. So it’s easier to access it because I have it downloaded instead of dealing with Patreons buggy site. And I personally like the billing on the 1st because it helps budgeting wise. But again that is your call! You are the content creator and whatever helps you! And please rest your voice 🥺🥺🥺

Honestly the being charged on the same day as applying would help me out a ton since I am paid every other week. Sometimes by the time the first of the month comes around I'm in an awkward spot and not being able to pay then fighting with Patreon later to retry the payment when I am actually paid.

As a creator you should do what’s best for you. Having people pay up front and then 30 days repeating after is best for you so you can get paid. I once thought I subscribed to a Patreon account for a monthly giveaway and then unsubscribed a week later and they didn’t receive my payment from it. I had to go back and ask them for their Venmo to pay them. You should take care of yourself first and foremost ☺️ no one will blame you for changing it

I’m a Patreon creator as well and I switched to paying upfront since people would join in the middle of the month to have access to all my material and then unsubscribe before the 1st of the month, so they’d get all the material for free before leaving which kind of sucked… So I think it would be very helpful for you to switch to that in my opinion!
