Actually, the government "ban" hasn't been confirmed and, as far as I know, it's just a conspiracy theory since there's no solid proof for it. It's mainly Xiao Zhan and Wang Yibo's toxic solo fans that are the reason those two stopped all their public interactions. Especially after the "227 incident" (in February of 2020, a fanfiction abt XZ and WYB was published on one of the most famous websites for fanworks, which was then found by XZ's fans and mass-reported to the government, which caused the whole website to be banned on the Chinese territory and taken down - as you can imagine, that led to the outrage of all other unrelated fandoms and especially minorities, like the queer community, that were completely innocent but ended up losing their one uncensored, free-for-all platform, where they could express themselves without fear of repercussions; in return, they came together and attacked XZ himself, although he had no idea what had happened, causing him and his career immense damage - he canceled all public appearances until the end of the year basically, and suffered a lot mentally; thankfully, he made a strong comeback and is now doing better than ever), both XZ and WYB are especially careful about any interactions that could harm their public image. They already have to sue each other's fans all the time because of constant attacks and cyberbullying and, unfortunately, living in China means that they have to always be on good terms with the (homophobic) government. So yeah, all of us fans who loved seeing their interaction and chemistry have to settle for protecting their privacy and hoping that at least they're still in touch outside of the public eye (they still follow each other on social media 👀)

2025-05-18 22:47:57 +0000 UTCFacts: “please read” After their series was shown it became very famous and very successful , They held several parties with all the actors to meet their fans in several cities After that the chineese government ordered that (Wang Wuxian and Lang Wangji) the two main characters not to meet each other ever and not even greet or make any contact with each other From approximately 2021 until now we have not seen any interaction between them Some fans revealed that they meet each other’s and greet each other secretly but they did not publish anything else for fear that the Chinese government would see and punish them , The reason the government took this decision is because it is one of the most homophobic governments , Since the series is about the two main man characters and there is a bromance between them it took this decision , It is a very malicious decision to separate them for an unlimited period of years especially after they achieved great success , because of this when they see each other on any meeting or award ceremony they pretend to not see each other and They greet each other and talk to each other behind the scenes … it’s so sad they don’t do anything to deserve this .
