Living Dead Girl

High key, I think everyone wants me to look like this...which is NOT what I want to look like ESPECIALLY inside the ring. I know people say things on how they think my career would look or what it would do for me to just be "normal" if I did that, you'd take away EVERYTHING that makes me...well...me. This right here is COMPLETELY out of my comfort zone, and feels like how I was forced to be when I was in corporate America. Miserable, ostracized, and belittled.

It's crazy how tattoos, piercings, hair color and make up can cause people to believe you are not good at what you do. As someone who was at their first job for 6 years, their second job a year and then the 3rd job for almost 6 years....work ethic is not appreciated like it used to be.

What's yalls opinions on that?

EDIT***

Just want to clarify, this isn't a boo hoo pity me kind of post. I purposefully stepped out of my comfort zone to do this shoot. It challenges me to do things that I'm not used to doing (Which is great! Especially in front of you guys) I think it's important to note that, not everyone has to like you, understand you, let alone think you are good at something. (Even if you are) Personal preference is a real thing. I dislike the color blue, but my husband loves blue. It's when people disrespect you. You don't have to take ANYONE'S disrespect.

The second portion of my post is just in regards to real world issues. I have good friends who work 9 to 5's (lol 9 to 5 more like 7 to 6 if I'm being honest) being laid off despite their good work ethic and being an employee for 5 plus years.

Rick Rubin talks about this pretty often. He says the audience comes last. You're not making it for them. You're making it for you. And when you make something true and authentic, it is best for you and the audience.

John P Morrison

That’s why we love the living dead girl :)

Dane Kohlhoff

Sadly, this is always going to be something that happens in work culture. There are always going to be those that don't judge you by how hard you work, but more so on how you look; whether it be tattoos, piercings, hair color, or in my case being a POC, especially when employers see my name. Even though it's difficult, sometimes the best thing to do is to just say "fuck what they think" and just go on about your business and keep doing the best that you know you can do; whatever it may be. I mean, you're Abadon, you're awesome! Sidenote: I know this particular shoot was outside of your comfort zone, but I'd be lying if I said that you didn't look great in it.

Greenbeard

Your quite welcome

🙏🙏🙏

RedCyclone

To be fair, the person in the ring and out of the ring are basically the same. The only difference is I just don't growl at everyone in real life HAHAHAH! but I appreciate your kind words.

Abadon

Man fuck those people. I'm glad you found something that you enjoy though, especially if you wanna do it forever!

Abadon

You are so right, especially when it comes to those who are handicapped. It's incredibly sad.

Abadon

It breaks my heart the amount of judgment in this world. I don’t want to sound cliche but never judge a book by its cover. We are all different and beautiful in our own ways, treat everyone with kindness and respect unless they give you a reason not too. That’s so much bs . We need to do better as people to lift each other up and be there for one another

Jonathan dobrick

That's really all you can do. The best form of revenge is living your best life regardless of how others view you.

Abadon

I can't imagine the things that people do to you. I'm so sorry people are trash. That Slipknot song comes to mind People=Shit

Abadon

Thank you I appreciate that

Abadon

Oh I could never change unless I wanted too!

Abadon

I kid you not, when I worked at my first job, they didn't want to hire someone who was on the larger size. The guy handed in his application and I watched my boss (he told the guy that he would look over it within the next few days) and put it straight into the trash. This was after it was sold to corporate versus just being a mom and pop shop.

Abadon

Especially in today's day and age where social media makes it a little more intense too. YEs, haha, spite is one HELL of a motivator hahaha

Abadon

I most certainly do! Don't worry about that!

Abadon

Awe well thank you I appreciate it

Abadon

When I tell you, there was a guy I worked with and he came into work with a lip ring one day OOOUUUU!!!!! The way HR had him in the office SO fast.

Abadon

In my honest opinion you are beautiful when you are both in character and out of character. I am hooked on your in ring persona. It fits you perfectly. It breaks the norm of what every other female wrestler in the business is trying to do. It’s why I am drawn to you as a performer. I also do love it when you let us fans have a small peek into the person outside of the ring. Like I said beautiful in both forms. Stay as amazing as you are. I see great things for you.

Robert Ellis

I've had more than one job flat out decline to even interview me once they saw me. A couple wouldn't even give me applications. But I truly believe everything works out how it's supposed to. I've been in the same career for the better part of a decade now and plan to stay here forever! Never water yourself down for others. Those that appreciate the authentic you will find you.

Jeremy Kelley

Regretfully people still put stigmas on things that don't fit in their wheelhouse. They see someone that is handicapped that they aren't as capable of doing the same things someone who isn't handicapped can do as far as work. They see appearances and judge that if you color your hair or have tattoos then you lack the discipline to do as good a job of someone who has a more conservative look. I would hope that as become a more diverse society that these stigmas would die but apparently we still need to evolve a but more.

Tim Collins

There's no way I can fathom the sheer amount of judgment you put up with on the reg, but I know what it's like to not fit society's mold and be antagonized openly by strangers because of how I look regardless of what I wear (even thin people get shit talked) It takes a lot not to lash out, so I just keep to myself and keep it moving 🤷🏾‍♂️

RedCyclone

I'm in a wheelchair so I know all about people judging me based on how I look, normies suck.

Matthew Bamford

Totally agree with you just be who you want to be and we’ll be keep cheering you on the journey.

Adam Mapes

I think never change and do what makes you happy you are amazing and epic :)

Dane Kohlhoff

1000% agree sadly people will get unfairly judged based on looks . I’ve met many “ normal” people in my life who were just horrible and many who society would whisper awful things about who are the sweetest most kind hearted hard working people ever. In reality who is to say what “normal” is my definition is different from the next person and there’s different from the next . Be true to yourself love you be kind to others and live your life for you. We all love you Abadon keep being the amazing kind hard working kickass person you are . 🖤🖤🖤

Jonathan dobrick

people love judging covers without reading a single page. I think it's a quick and dirty way to feel superior to someone when there's no better way to boost the ego. I think it just leaves more room to prove them wrong, but I am also very motivated by spite. 😅

old number 13

Stay the way you are in the ring gear. You look fabulous. Dress like the pics on your own personal time and or when you feel like it

April Hedlund

You are amazing at what you do. You're my favorite monster

Brian H

“Normal” sucks. I’m sorry but to make this world work, you need a blend of “usual” and “unusual” to make a rainbow. I hate the world of IT HAS TO BE THIS WAY TO MAKE IT WORK or IT HAS TO BE THIS WAY TO SUCCEED. FUCK THAT SHIT. I beat to a different beat. A lot of people have done things UNORTHODOXED and the reward of that is so fulfilling, all because people want to be different. Also, F anyone that says you have to look like a diva from the late 90’s like WWF or WCW or ECW where you are ignored for your wrestling skills and just there for eye candy. Also, F anyone that says you have to do this to get better. You have a right to be yourself and do what you like to make YOUR life work. It’s YOUR LIFE. Period. No one should feel uncomfortable just to succeed. Never. Much love.
