LoveMachine for Summer Vacation Scramble

Finally, you can play Samabake with sex toys.

This time, you will need some extra stuff to get the mod working, including a modified version of BepInEx, and Locale Remulator if your system language is not set to Japanese. After installing Locale Remulator, you can run the game in a non-Japanese environment by right clicking SamabakeScramble.exe, and selecting Locale Remulator x64 > Run in Japanese.

To install LoveMachine, simply drag the contents of both attached ZIP files into the game folder.

Why the modified BepInEx

Like HoneyCome, Samabake was built using IL2CPP. Unlike HoneyCome, it comes with two additional challenges for modding:

1. The game has checks in place that specifically look for files used by BepInEx and other modding frameworks, and crash the game upon finding any.

2. The global-metadata.dat of the game is encrypted and obfuscated, which makes it much harder to reverse the effects of IL2CPP.

Some of us modders have spent the last days of summer trying to overcome these hurdles. The first one was easy. The second, far more difficult one was solved by deaknaew -- kudos to them for letting me use their work.

This time, the intention behind these measures is unfortunately very clear. ILLGAMES does not want you to mod their games. There is simply no other way to interpret it. They have put actual effort into either developing their own anti-modding technology or integrating an existing one (which usually also costs money) into their game.

I am not saying this in contempt, I am simply explaining why it took the community 3 days longer than usual to get any mods working in this game. And whatever ILLGAMES' opinion is, I still think it's a game worth modding, especially because of the upcoming VR version, which, if it's up to me, I'm absolutely going to add sex toys to.

(If anyone from ILLGAMES is reading this: next time maybe use a whitelist instead of a blacklist for DLLs, that would have been much harder to work around. 😘)

Comments

Anti-piracy would be a valid explanation if the game did anything of the sort, though in my opinion the only people they would be punishing with that are the ones who were never going to buy the game anyway.

Why on earth are they so hell bent on preventing the modding scene? I'm not even gonna bother with this game if It can't even come to a fraction of KK's modding potential. This is actually sounding more like they want to prevent the game from being pirated which is a byproduct of it being so moddable. I think they should try to go for more sells by promoting the mod scene than trying to 'stop the steal' and stifling their sales as a result anyway.
