Wild Geese

A peasant couple left their little daughter at home to look after her baby brother while they went to the fields, warning her not to leave the yard. The girl disobeyed, went out to play, and wild geese carried her brother away. Realizing what had happened, she set off in search of him. On her way she met a stove, an apple tree, and a milk river, each offering help in exchange for food, but at first she refused. Finally, she reached the hut of Baba Yaga, where her brother was kept. A little mouse warned her that Baba Yaga planned to trick and eat her, so the girl took her brother and fled.

When the wild geese chased them, the girl turned back to the stove, the apple tree, and the milk river, this time gratefully accepting their gifts and kindness. Each of them hid her and her brother from the geese. At last, they returned home safely just as their parents came back.

I am really excited about this new series, so I often think about ways to illustrate old slavic tales in my style.

For this tale I used photo from my recent foggy photoshoot and one of a cottage I took a while ago (both attached). This time I wanted to try a new editing style for me, I wanted this photo too look like it was taken a long time ago and honestly I love this effect! Do you agree?

Another great news is that I think I will be able to fulfill one of my photographic dream this weekend so please cross your fingers for the right weather and maybe a little bit of fog!

Love, Erinthul.

I absolutely love the effect! Reminds me of old Ambrotype photographs back in the late 1800s. Great story as well, thank you.
