Demons of the swamps - Błędnica

So here's the first demon in my photography book. Feedback much appreciated - both on the photo and on my writing since English is not my first language.

Once upon a time, long before the arrival of Christianity, our slavic lands were covered in dense ancient forests. Between these thickets, hidden from a human eye, were dangerous marshes. In the old days, they were inhabited by demons who only awaited those brave enough to venture there after dark... but until now only stories about them have survived.

They had different names depending on the region: błędnice, ogniki, świetliki bagienne or błędne ognie. They appeared in the form of small flickering lights floating above the swamps in the evening. A few saw these lights transform into thin and tall figures. A strange blue glow radiated from them, and their heads glowed like living flames.

People said that Błędnice are nothing more than human souls wandering the earth, so if you treat them well, they help light the way back home, but if you do something wrong to them or make them angry, they can drown such a person in the mud without any mercy.

Today we can guess that Ogniki are the personification of the phenomenon of burning mud gas in peat bogs.

I picked 3 photos that I think might work and are taken on the swamps but I personally think the first one is a clear winner, although I'd still love to know your opinion and maybe suggestions, which of my other work could fit... or ideas for a completely new phots.

Love, Erinthul.

It's been such a pleasure reading about Slavic folklore while going through your posts. I've learned so much. Thank you for this! And you're absolutely right, that first photo is the perfect image for this project. I love the complimentary oranges in the trees and your hair. Looks beautiful!

Hahaha thanks, I just did. It can be confusing but not as much as the Polish grammar :D

As an English person I have sympathy for people trying to learn English as an additional language. Give them a rule to follow then immediately break that rule. It's a crazy language. Google the "i before e except after c" meme 🤯

Oh yeah. I thought that adding those orbs would bbe a nice touch because they weren't there in my original edit :)

Thank you so much!

I agree the first image really captures it, the green orbs dancing around makes it look like you have formed from them

Isla

Definitely the first picture, it seems to fit the legend best. Your English is excellent.
