Visual Novel Game Update
Added 2024-09-13 17:16:21 +0000 UTCHello, hello! I hope you're all doing well! I wanted to give a quick update on the next visual novel game and my plans going forward.
First off, I know I've been quiet for a few weeks when it comes to the game, trust me that I am working very diligently on it. I'm not making any promises, but the game's first build should be released within the next few weeks. I'm aiming for the end of September. I will say that this weekend and the next I'll be incredibly busy so that could easily change.
On second news, I've decided to trim back on the scope of the first build. Originally I was planning to include the map exploration portion of the game. But as I continued to flesh out everything you do in the city, I realized there was a lot more work I needed to do there first. This means that for the first build of the game, you will only have access to the city. That doesn't mean you're lacking for content though. You'll still be able to experience combat, city building, time management, romance sim, and maybe more.
As time comes closer, I might start posting sex scenes from the game available only to my highest tier Patrons as a little teaser. I hope you're all as excited as I am! I've been spending so much time working on this game. It's been incredibly frustrating and difficult at times. But honestly, it's so rewarding too.
Onto other news, I've decided that once I have the first build out, I'll start pushing out much much smaller visual novel games as well. Think of my first game, First Obsessions but slightly longer. I would say around 5 hours or so for each game. I'll be working on these games along with the main game in tandem.
Why am I doing this? Well, for starters, I feel like a lot of you who joined in the beginning because of my visual novel games are pretty disappointed. That was literally my selling point for this Patreon account and yet I haven't released a single new game since this page's launch. My early ideas for visual novel games were to release them somewhat regularly. Maybe one new game every month or so. That way I have something that differentiates me from everyone else. And for you tier 4 and 5 Patrons, make you feel like you're really getting your money's worth.
As it stands right now, I'm not really achieving any of what I originally set out to do. Now you might think a big part of that is due to the fact that I pump out daily content and a character set every week, but that's not really true. I can make all of my art in the background as I code the game. The real problem here is I underestimated the amount of work needed to make a game to this scale. As always, I was a little bit too ambitious.
I'm also doing this because I have a lot of great ideas for smaller scale games. For now I don't really want to dabble in comics like everyone else. I want to stick to my own things. But with the genre of my game, it wouldn't make sense to implement these plots and characters into the main game.
It should be noted that for now, my plans are to keep these games limited to just OC characters and universes. For now my main game is where all these universe crossing happens, so I want to keep the identity of the main game unique and separate from my other games.
So does this mean after the first build of the main game is released there'll be an even longer waiting time until the next build? Not necessarily. As I stated in a previous update post building everything from scratch is much much more difficult and time consuming than simply adding and editing once you're done with the fundamentals. That being said, of course working on multiple projects at the same time will mean that both projects will take longer to finish when compared to focusing on only one project. But, I feel like this will be worth it.
My main goal and focus is to please you all and make you happy with where your money is going. So I know this post was extremely long, but if you made this far, thank you very much!! I hope you stay with me for the ride. I love you all so so much. Thank you!
