Next Visual Novel Dev Notes/Concept Art

So, here's a little update on my next visual novel game! Get ready, cause this here is a doozy.

Characters:

So as you can see, my primary concept is set in a medieval fantasy world. I'm still workshopping this. The setting could still change, like to a sci fi setting, modern setting, modern apocalypse setting, etc. For now, it's medieval fantasy. Currently no characters are set in stone. All I know for now is that I want OC's and IP characters. The pictures are kinda a test for how the AI model handles creativity and flexibility with IP characters wearing medieval gear but still resembling their original look. None of these images are final. Just concepts to give us all an idea.

Gameplay Mechanics:

1. City Management - I'm looking to implement an overview of a city that starts off mostly destroyed and barren and allowing the player to build new buildings and upgrade the buildings. Each building will have specific uses and require resources to build and upgrade. You'll be able to staff buildings with specific characters to enhance production.

2. Harem Romance Sim - Players can attempt to romance female characters. Each girl with have stats ranging like physical appearance, preferences, etc. Depending on their stats the player must choose the correct choices to gain affinity. Players can also give gifts that will raise affinity if it's to the girls' preferences a few times per day. Once affinity reaches a certain point they can attempt to fuck the girl. There'll be one of two minigames. Maybe both. First is mashing buttons or to a rhythm. The second is choosing the correct choices on how to fuck the girl and what to say. Depending on the outcome will determine the girl's satisfaction. Failure doesn't mean no more sex, but certainly less sex and most likely infidelity if failure persists.

3. Exploration - Outside of the city overview, players will venture out into the world. The world will be shrouded in a fog of war at first to hide point of interests, cities, and etc. Fog of war will disappear for good once players visit each tile. Still deciding whether I want spaced out random combat encounters, or restricting combat just to point of interests such as dungeons and plot points. Players will choose seven companions to join them. Girls are versatile and varied. Guys are less so, but very very powerful. All male companions will be black and significantly stronger than all companions and some enemies. To balance this, players can bring all guys but then there'll be no healer as only girls are healers. Players will also be deprived of gaining any affinity with girls. Also, the more guys brought the higher the risk of girls cheating on the player, especially with low affinity or low satisfaction. Lastly, all girls left behind are at risk of cheating. So it might be useful to bring some guys to help in tough fights or boss battles. But bringing mostly guys will increase chances of infidelity. Provisions and resource management will also be a concern for players. The more you explore the more resources you'll need. Might make resource consumption based on party size and party members. Companions will also have a fatigue meter so players must cycle through their many companions.

4. Combat - This is the least tested mechanic that is technically possible but still a bit unsure about on a large scale. Combat will take into account character stats for sure. However, combat might either be automatic, meaning the player just watches as all party members quickly fight. Might add in environmental hazards or clues to assist players in combat when clicked. That gives players something to do while watching. Or might do actual turn based first person RPG combat like old school dungeon crawlers.

5. Netorare/Cuckold - Players will have to contest with the main rival and black companions over all female companions. As stated in previous mechanics, girls can and will cheat on players during exploration and city management. During city management, players will see a cutscene of the sex scene whether the player character is present or not. Players can be present during sex scenes depending on girl dissatisfaction and player choices. During exploration players will not see or hear of girls cheating. Players might stumble on sex scenes during camp though. Still deciding whether players can win back girls or not from black guys. If they do win them back, they will always still remain susceptible to infidelity. Also still playing with impregnation ideas. If implemented, girls can become pregnant with the rival character's child. This will disable said companion's exploration for a time. Children will then be a fusion of both characters. The player might be able to impregnate girl companions also. During exploration, players can protect specific girl companions from any attempts of corruption by assigning them guards. With only a few guards available, however, you won't be able to cover nearly a fraction of girls.

6. Girl Collection - Similar to mobile harem games, you'll slowly collect and gather girls throughout the game. New girls will be added in through updates as well. Girls may have unlockable cosmetics too such as their original costumes, bridal outfits, bikini outfits, etc.

There might be more mechanics I implement, but for now, these are the core mechanics.

Story:

For now, the story is very lite. You basically play the newly crowned king of the kingdom after your father's death. Soon after an invasion ensues. These invaders are a bloodthirsty, ruthless, people that rape, pillage, and steal everywhere they go. They are infamous for the downfall of many civilizations. During your fight against the invaders, dangerous portals open in the sky all around the kingdom. People from all kinds of different universes drop from the portals. They are not alone, however. More portals open that let loose monsters and creatures of infinite destruction. With this newfound threat to the world in its entirety, you and your invaders must band together in a fight for survival.

Public and Beta builds. As stated in membership tiers, Games will be exclusive to Patrons. So even though labled as public, public builds will not be available to the masses. Beta builds will always be one update ahead. This means the very first release of the game may be in beta. Reminder that only the two highest tiers will have access to beta builds. Don't expect every single mechanic described here to be present right away. This game will basically be in early access. But don't worry, you'll still have PLENTY to chew on in the first build!!
