Crawling Death

This set was inspired by the painting with the same title by Zdzisław Beksiński. If you like the hybrid of realism and fantasy, mostly dark-themed and horror-related art then you should check him out.

He's definietly one of my biggest inspirations (although I don't think it's visible in my photos) and since I get a lot of questions about that I figured I can share my top inspirations here from time to time.

If you know any painter, photographer or other visual creator that you think I might like - please share them with me. I need some new inspirations :D

Also Happy New Year to all of you. This year was a mix between the best year of my life and the worst. This rollercoaster has a strong impact on me. I am tired. Can't wait for the next one to come. Wish you all a better year than this one and thank you for making my the best in some aspects.

Soon I'll share my most favourite and meaningful photos I took this year.

Love, Erinthul.

Thank you so much for taking your time to write this comment. I really appreciate that and I definietly have to check out the artists you mentioned because I've never heard of them (I was never the biggest lover of art - it came to me as I got older - that's why I am trying to learn as much as I can). I also would love to wish you a Happy New Year. Hopefully it will be better than the last one. Have a wonderful day - every day 🤍

Terrific series of shots Erinthul, they represent the spirit of Beksiński beautifully - the soft focus on the contorted body in black space works really well. I’m a big fan of Beksiński’s work too. There are a couple of Australian artists who created similar dark surrealist works, but using a very different landscape backdrop - Russel Drysdale is one, Arthur Boyd is another, and James Gleeson worked in a similar style too. Are you familiar with the work of the artist Francis Bacon (not the philosopher of the same name) - he created works with a focus of a ‘body’ in the centre of a room, he’s excellent. And for something a bit different, less dark and more colourful but similar subject matter, I’m a fan of the work of James Jean too. Mark Ryden is terrific too, again very different to Beksiński but some of his tree and snow paintings incorporate similar features to your photos. Just a few that come to mind! Happy New Year to you too Erinthul, I hope 2023 is an energising and empowering year for you. It has been wonderful to witness your artistic creations here and the style you’ve developed - I hope you can take time to rest up and rejuvenate your spirit so you can be newly inspired to create more fantastic series of photos next year.
