Name change
Added 2021-12-15 16:23:33 +0000 UTCEDIT:
Thank you so much for your feedback. I really appreciate that <3. I decided to change my name to erinthul__ (because with one _ is of course unavailable) for now and we'll see how I like it. I am really leaning into the _erinthul_ tho :D
Hey friends!
I was just wondering about changind my name on Instagram from erin.thul to _erinthul_. The reason behind it is that I like how my nick sounds reading together and not separately. Unfortunately I can't use the name erinthul because ig blocked it for whatever reason. Also some people think that my name is Erin (where in fact it's Ania) so I don't want to be misleading. Of course it's not a big change and that's only an idea that popped into my head today so let me know what you think. I know it's silly but I wanted to ask you first :)
Do you think @erin.thul looks better than @_erinthul_ or the other way round?

It could be that 'erinthul' on instagram was removed in the past; I believe the name remains reserved for a time before it's released in full. Unfortunately, I do not know the release times. This to avoid a conflict of interest or a wrong redirection from another website. Just speculating here. In any case, opinions and thoughts aside; the final choice is always yours dear. Regardless of what you pick, you build your name and your brand around it. Your not the only artist struggling with the names, as mentioned above, as it's highly challenging to have one and the same across all platforms.

2021-12-15 20:38:16 +0000 UTCThat's a fair point! I haven't thought of it in that way. I personally like how the second option look more but I am glad to know your opinion. I think I'll stay with my old nick for now. Maybe ig will finally answer me and let me use erinthul... But that's just a wishful thinking :/

2021-12-15 20:27:15 +0000 UTCI prefer the dot in the middle over the underscores in front and back. I get why you'd pick them because it gives the preferred name as intended but it doesn't look as nice. Other platforms taken into account; should you ever branch out or file for domain names, not all can start with an underscore leaving you in the same situation as now. the dot in the middle is a nice compromise. or, should you design a logo you can work with something like 'er!nthul' (but use an upsidedown letter i instead of the exclamation mark); but then it becomes a matter or interpetation.

2021-12-15 17:26:35 +0000 UTCAs sad as it is, I would not wait for support to help. Instagram very much has the stance of "sounds like a *you* problem" when it comes to usernames. I mean, my dream usernames are taken by either inactive accounts or people with no followers who post the most random things..

2021-12-15 17:14:59 +0000 UTCOh thank you so much for your advice. I was actually having the same thoughts about taging. I hate that sometimes ig don't let you use a nick even tho it's not taken by anyone... I wrote to the support about it many times but to this day got no response :/

2021-12-15 17:11:05 +0000 UTCI have the same issue :) my name is meant to be read together as Adanedhel, and some people think my name is Adan. Honestly I think Erin.thul works very nicely and it's much easier to tag starting with E than with _. I don't think I'd ever go for _Adanedhel_
