Just wait a few hours then try again. This is, sadly, well known Patreon problem: these links sometimes disappear and then reappear later, few hours (sometimes few days) later. Noone is sure about exactly why that happens.

I'm all for schisms, if this was ever fleshed out I always saw the Society having one hell of a debate about Elves (JRR Tolken vs folklore vs fantasy vs the various sub races in D&D vs Warcraft Night/High/Blood Elves vs... well you get the idea) I also like unintended consequences, but not from zealous haste - the FRRS does its damnest to weed out their flighty members that could endanger others or themselves with untested genetic manipulation or without a thorough plan. I like the idea of the unforeseen consequences that are the result of something minor. For an example, a second generation Draenai has a combination of a "I'm expecting HOW many?" and a permanent issue with breasts that swell up with milk each month from a normal to huge but still mobile size, all because of the combination of her use of a FRRS approved fertility treatment and her mom's use of BOOST during her college years before she joined FRRS. Here's another FYI, the Draenai kicking around on Earth I used in the example is what I first imagined as an original character I would love to commission some work about from someone and the Fantasy Race Realization Society was just thought up as the reason why she existed in the first place...

For some reason I don't see the links to any of the individual sketches. Is this the same for anyone else?

I like the unintended consequences part a lot as well. So I tend to see the FRRS as a loose umbrella and the actual implementation of a particular specie comes down to those who want to be it. And because people, especially those who are invested enough in something to be genetically modified, will never agree on everything, there's a constant splintering and schism even amongst a single race. Subsequently, there will be over-zealous members who will go ahead with whatever they think should be... so perhaps in this case there's a few people went for Driderhood, and fortunately at least one is female... and she can surely produce 10k or more offspring, right? Race established in no-time at all!

as I imagine it the FRRS members looks to the collective myths and fictions of man to find what they would like to be in order to create a stable and growing population of that species and race. In practice the FRRS is always looking at the new and safe breakthroughs in genetic manipulation and what races that would allow that they have enough members interested in permanently becoming. Those looking to establish the race (Driders - for example) would debate every detail of biology and sociology that it would entail (like how do they reproduce - eggs or live births, and how they would live) given the body of work the particular species. An example using Zdemain's Drider woman I thought of would be if there is enough members looking for Driderhood that think Driders should carry their unborn like humans and egg laying, both would be established as separate populations and the two races given different names (Aracena Drider for the egg layers for example) And as an FYI I think the threshold the FRRS uses to consider establishing a race is when they have at least 10k members with a 1:1 male to female ratio that desire to become that species.

I'm a big fan of the "unexpected consequences," or "not what I had in mind," area of this. Of course people would volunteer without considering perhaps the complications.

The idea with the Fantasy Races is very, very neat! I had a similar once, but with mythological creatures like centaurs and harpies. Unfortunately i never managed to finish the story based on this idea. Maybe i will rewrite it using this idea. (Fantasy role-players would be much more willing to do such changes than say ... jobless historians)

That was a pleasant surprise for sure.

Looks great!

I love the way the mad scientist's glasses reshape to suit her facial expression. The Fantasy Race Realization Society are true heroes of our time for their dedicated and highly necessary work. I'm hoping we'll see more from them. Another fantastic week of sketches!

Geistsieg

Another wonderful set this week. I especially liked the pregnant drider.
