Red/Purple Law OP06.75 Conclusion | Thoughts + Decklist(s)

Intro

CrossAi (@Cross_Aii) here, and today we are going to be taking a last look at Red/Purple Law in OP06. OP07 content is right around the corner, so before we transition, I’d like to finish up my thoughts on the OP06 post-ban format. The first deck we’ll talk about here is Red/Purple Law.

Position in the Meta

As in my last RP Law article, I still believe it boasts the most power out of any deck in the game at the moment(for my fellow Moriaers, I do believe it is close between the two decks).

Unlike Moria who auto-loses to BY Luffy, RP Law has no auto-loss matchup, while still being able to defeat Moria. There’s actually various top players who believe R/P Law is even slightly favored into Moria, which further solidifies it’s position at the top of the meta.

I’m still of the belief that both GP Doffy & Ivankov are decks that can consistently beat RP Law, but neither of these decks have shown themselves in the meta.

Green Uta is another deck that is supposed to be able to defeat RP Law, but I actually think the matchup is slightly RP Law favored.

According to the current environment, I think RP Law is the strongest. Thanks to Moria’s resource-loss from losing great eruption, as well as Lucci becoming less popular, the RP Law & Moria matchup is very even as well. And BY Luffy is clearly favored (at least until Egghead Luffy comes out next set)!

My Current Decklists

Standard

This is what I consider a solid standard for RP Law right now. No fancy fire-fists(this is my favorite tech though), no Aces, no Blocker Laws, just raw draw power, Zorojuro, and don-plus.

Miss All Sunday in particular, seems to be the strongest addition to this deck, which I’ll discuss more in a moment. Let’s talk about some of the key cards, including Miss All Sunday.

4 Zorojuro - Combined with a total of 4 Shuriya, we have a total of 8 3-cost plays. I see fielding a 3-cost on our 3-don turn, as a free additional unit. Against matchups like the mirror, Moria, Uta, the privilege of having an extra unit in the early-game is way more powerful than swinging 8K.

Aside from this, Zorojuro is super strong. If our opponent hits us, we get to work with an additional don we shouldn’t have for the rest of the game, if our opponent doesn’t hit us, we earned ourselves an extra life.

And the extra don in the early-game is actually important, because it makes it easier to go back to 6-don, if we decide to leader skill on our 5-don turn (which is sometimes nice for speed against Moria and Mirror depending on our hand).

This card seems to completely shift our options when played on that 3-Don turn, so I believe it should be at 4 copies.

If you’re also like me and you like to ramp on the 5-don turn going first, and 4-don turn of going second, without using leader skill.

Then we may also have additional don to play a 3-cost unit with on our following turn, and Zorojuro is an excellent candidate to play on turns like these as well. Since he earns us a don back, he is basically a broken 5K power attacker.

4 Shuraiya - This cards the king against leaders like BY Luffy, Whitebeard, Yamato. There’s no losing to certain decks when this card comes down.

Aside from this, it’s also one of the few 3-cost characters that has both effect text AND can also change it’s power until the end of the opponent’s turn.

This card helps make this deck unreasonably flexible

3 Miss All Sunday - This card's ability to both ramp AND draw is too strong. I actually think this is card is the strongest 5-don turn play against black decks. Kid forces us to use leader ability on curve to get value out of it, and black decks (and the mirror), consistently answer Kid the minute comes out.

I think it’s stronger to use Sunday in the early-game to draw and accumulate resources, and then use Kid in the later game when removal has already been wasted.

If you believe in accumulating don, instead of using leader skill immediately, then Sunday is your strongest 5-don turn play. You gain a don, draw a card, and the character is still 5-cost (which is relevant against Moria’s Perona + Brook play). And you will have started the next turn with 8-don.

3 Queen - This is a card I previously had at two, but the draw engine is too strong. I used to play RP Law a deck that immediately used leader skill. This restricted me to about 5-don, and I never saw a realistic timing to play Queen. But now that I am smarter with my don usage, I think Queen is too strong.

Similar to Ms. All Sunday, it’s like additional copies of Reiju, but it can be used at any hand size, filters bricks out of our hand, and functions as a blocker.

I currently feel like 3 copies is the minimum at the moment.

This is it for the cards I wanted to explain, let’s briefly look at some other lists.

Cross’ Strange List

This is a visual on the concept I briefly mentioned in my article. I find Ms. All Sunday so strong, that I wanted to make a list that focused on spamming Miss All Sundays, and ending the game off with playing Queens, and this is what I concluded on.

The standard list will fit most people the best, but for those who aren’t scared to try something new, I would certainly give this a try.

This list is simply based off the concept that the draw & advantage Miss All Sunday brings us, can’t be matched by any other card in the early-game. And as such I have decided to play 4 copies, since I would like to see multiple copies.

“Zorojuro is only good going first” List

I was going to post a list for this, but changed my mind. I want to denounce this idea in general.

Many people’s issue with Zorojuro is that “it’s only good going first,” the reality of all card games is that you’re not always going to get your ideal curve, so it’s nice to have cards that are used in the non-optimal curve.

The same goes for our optimal curve, we want cards that are good there as well, we just need a balance.

So for people questioning Zorojuro is a card that’s only good going first. Yes, it’s arguably only goof when going first (although if you accumulate don, you’ll have certain turns where you have 3-don leftover to play a 3-cost unit), but does that mean you shouldn’t run it?

If you have another 3-drop of choice, then I think it’s fair to consider that instead of Zorojuro. But, if you’re straight up just running four 3-drops, “because they’re only good going first.” I’m pretty confident in telling you that you’re tripping.

This also goes for the Sakazuki players who didn’t play 7Borsalino, “because it’s only good going first.” Smh.

------------------------

This is it for the article for now. This should be the last I am speaking of RP Law for 06, but don’t worry, I will be speaking on more of it in 07!

I noticed in 07 I got stuck on Moria for a bit, then I got stuck on Saka for a bit. I’ll try to give a lot more decks love going into -7, AND THEN focus on the decks I want to focus on.

With that being said, I’ll catch y’all in the next one, peace!
