I agree that the voting both helps you deliver what people seem to want, but also ends up yielding the same results as most other creators. I'd say ask for suggestions like normal, and then pick out a small selection (6, 8?) for people to actually vote on that you think might make good sculpts. This also allows you to pick some less common characters, possibly making you the only or one of very few to have ever attempted a character.

2024-09-02 20:20:08 +0000 UTCThe Merchant vote already has a double chance as it goes into two draws, and there is also one of the votes that merchant only have their models going into the draw, in other words, every month merchant models come out.

2024-09-02 19:58:25 +0000 UTCI say it's useful but also harmful. It's useful cause it adds randomness and not leads to favoritism but harmful cause it still tends to follow the character of the month thing where in every modeler is sculpting the same character each month. Like I get having a variety is nice of a given character but having 12 of the same character for the month makes it rather stale. Maybe instead of a regular and a merchant poll combine reg and merch together give merchants their own poll for the same picks so they have a little bit more voting power then have the second model be one you want to do or maybe one from the discord. There tons from the discord that would never see the light of day but would be fantastic.

2024-09-02 17:41:49 +0000 UTCI marked "No" mainly because simple First Past the Post (simple majority) voting means we usually see the same models being made everywhere. I would love to see a ranked voting or some other method that might allow more niche or less mainstream characters get some time in the limelight

2024-09-02 04:28:00 +0000 UTCI voted with 'no', but for other reason it seems: I am not a big fan of any kind of votes for models - mostly because it favors mainstream charaters and often 3-5 modelers do the same character... I prefer the artist to do his own thing 100% of the time. But if a voting system is in place, I think the random selection isn't bad.

2024-09-01 22:52:16 +0000 UTCJust to clarify, some people believe that I manipulate the voting. I want to address this: I do not manipulate the votes because I see no need to. I commit to three models at a time and often deliver more than that. Out of the three models, I hold a vote for two, and the third one is chosen by my own criteria. This is how I approach creating models that you want, along with one that is more attention-grabbing to appeal to a larger audience or simply one that I am personally interested in. You can notice that I've used this method for models like Sukuna, Juri, Rebeca, Bulma, and others that were not in the vote but have turned out to be relatively successful.

2024-09-01 21:21:09 +0000 UTCYes, I agree, I did it like this precisely to have a chance to come up with different models, for example the bonus models are at my discretion, that is, I won't make a model that I want and the other 2 are from the vote

2024-09-01 21:11:54 +0000 UTCI am of the opinion it is one of the better systems as far as the various artists go. The lottery gives every suggestion a fair chance, while avoiding the trouble of have 30 different characters in the final vote. Having three finalists means that the winner has at least 1/3 of the vote as opposed to having the EVERY suggestion in and having the winning model win with a total of 5 votes.

2024-09-01 20:37:31 +0000 UTCThe way the current voting doesn't seem to brother me at all cuz I didn't even know it was random for the first phase but I will say I like the variety of characters that you make compared to other patreons

2024-09-01 20:26:47 +0000 UTCFor example one month be magic users and another being a different category. I personally like that type of set up cause it seems to bring out many different options usually.

2024-09-01 17:53:41 +0000 UTCI like the random choices with votes because you get different characters that otherwise might not get an opportunity. I get the impression that we get same characters from multiple creators or they get tied to certain game or franchise if they choose their models just popular vote. With you there is a nice variety, even if that means that might be harder to get certain characters. But honestly I just like your models, I'm ok with any of the options/ whatever you think it's best.

2024-09-01 17:50:55 +0000 UTCwhat do you mean categories?
Momoji33d
2024-09-01 17:42:14 +0000 UTCyep TRUE
Momoji33d
2024-09-01 17:31:16 +0000 UTCThere is no real neutral choice. I don't think it's good or bad - the slim chance of actually getting a specific character reduced my engagement for the lottery. But it is fair. (I am just to lazy to put the name in each time) Also I liked the outcome so far. But based on the choices of bonus models and previous discussions- I probably would also like your choices without the lottery - so for me it's not a requirement. I think a direct majority vote tends to get boring (you tend to get the same stuff everywhere)

2024-09-01 17:19:08 +0000 UTCI know. I like the way things are honest the only thing I would add is maybe categories for each month but I know that may be a little too much.
Kodai313
2024-09-01 17:16:31 +0000 UTCwell, the random selection is only in the first phase, the second phase comes with voting, but you will have more chances this way than a popularity vote as is done on other patreons, i.e. patreon that only comes out with 2B and marvel dolls
Momoji33d
2024-09-01 17:13:43 +0000 UTCI may not like the random choices and I may have been asking for the same character for 2-4 years now but it's fair and that's what matters honestly.
