2025-07-24 22:29:39 +0000 UTCBtw, this particular k drama has A LOT of historical distortion. The story is a love romance in its core and to fit its narrative for backgrounds of main characters, it twists history in a not so good ways. So dont be learning korean history from this show.

At this early point in the story, Eugene does feel something for Aeshinβa certain magnetism, a curiosityβbut as you yourselves pointed out, she is a noble, just like those who killed his parents. And she fights for a Joseon that he doesnβt see as worthy of that fight, since that country and its traditions destroyed his family. They truly are a kind of Romeo and Juliet.

Then you have her, who is nobility (and the privileges that go with it) yet she is a rebel. Korea had already fought off Japanese invasions before (some won, some lost) and there is this enmity between the two countries.

FYI she wasnt being forward on the boat or at the tailors... she thinks hes a comrade (part of the Righteous Army) and was happy to finally meet one of them... nothing more. Love was said to her as is (in english) and she was told it is was better than getting a title and being the over-achiever she is, she wanted to strife for it too not even knowing what it is
