2025-02-11 10:39:00 +0000 UTCyo thats a solid point at the end, if you get the severence procedure, you basically invalidate any work experience and basically are stuck working there, forever. and even if they remembered, the work they do in there is essentially useless outside but yea the one thing this show does well is make you think about it after the fact

Also, I think the ‘timing’ comment was based on dialogue from e1, where Mark’s outtie was ‘near’ the anniversary of his loved one’s death. It’s not necessarily precisely the day-of, but near, probably? . The ‘therapy’ seemed more akin to torture, for me, tempting with things that sound nice about the other self, but punishing reacting (probably gauges whether or not there’s bleedover, since “ideally” the innie should have no idea or feeling toward their outtie but professional… maybe?). . I also think that Selvig was baiting him to check on the belongings of the person who died, which might reinforce his stance on considering ‘severance’ “a good thing.”

2025-02-10 16:11:32 +0000 UTCI think the one thing that can initially stop a RL severance, religion. I could see religious organizations having a big problem with that along with their followers. They still have a lot of sway politically.
