Sa-eon mom said "My son likes fish." Rewatching this and it just made me realize what he means when he told Hee Joo that they aren't afraid to replace their child, and that he told her that they're alike at the interview. Also, I like the detail to Hee Joo liking seafood and getting her sushi at the hotel.

I was emphasizing how I personally feel. How i feel is irrelevant though. Just found the translation difference interesting to talk about.

2024-12-05 23:28:11 +0000 UTCFor the "corpse" line, the literal Korean line was also "Call me when there's a corpse." So yes, the English sub was faithful and on point. I guess the Spanish sub moderated it a bit by saying "Call me when she's dead." but I'd say both are appropriate since they both mean "Call me after you actually killed her." And whichever it is that what the husband actually said in Korean("when there's a corpse" or "when she's dead"), they both mean "I don't care if she dies" so I'd say it more than justifies the wife's anger. I wouldn't think one would sound less horrible than the other to the wife who'd feel utterly betrayed and thrown away all the same. That is, in native Korean's perspective.

It's funny to see your reaction(more practical) throughout the show compared to us being gagged and shook with the feels out the gate. The mount of "omo omo omo's" exclaimed(by the Kdrama girlies) while watching this has to be astronomical. Thank you to you and your wife for your service in reacting to this. It gives us another opportunity to rewatch the same episodes again and again. 😂😅

2024-12-05 20:27:14 +0000 UTCI'm suspicious of the male lead's mother after she was looking at something on her phone and spilled hot tea on the female lead's mother when she tried to take a look. This was the scene right before the kidnapper was texting someone called "master" about their plans. She seems like she's on another level of intelligence than her husband so far, who has a childish rivalry with his own son. If he even is their son "they swap out their own children" is a bit of a weird line. This show is incredible so far, easily my top current kdrama.

2024-12-05 19:00:36 +0000 UTCWhat i love about this drama is you slowly see the changes in both leads from their actions to their emotions as they grow closer because of one incident. Sometimes 1 event changes a relationship for the better or worse or even both. The ML, I believe, is realizing that the way he was handling things personally is starting to not fly anymore eespecially now, not only he his in danger, so is the FL. He is seeing the changes in the FL, so he opening up in his own way. This is what I believe.

I have not been obsessed with a drama to a point that I will rewatch all episodes everyday in a very long time. The closest would be Marry my Husband(have seen) and Suspicious Partner (have not seen, but recommended).

The comment about "these people would even replace their children," and "but my son likes fish" when he clearly can't stomach it, makes it seem quite possible. I think it has something to do with whatever Sang-woo saw in the basement.

The top two reasons was all too often we don’t get an equivalency in how much our main leads love/obsess over each other. Can’t say that for these two. The interview segment is one of my favorites so far in the show, the further we get into the show it becomes abundantly clear that pushing the FL away is about protecting her. I love the dual reactions keep it up!

2024-12-05 06:35:51 +0000 UTCI went into watching 'The Trunk' fully aware of what genre it was and what to expect, so to me it is a well executed take of the book it's based on. That said, the reviews have been pretty much divided, with people either loving or hating it. I don't think viewers have to get what point the show (and book) is trying to make for it to be enjoyed - on its own, it is a good psychological melodrama as @sneh stated. If you get what the show is trying to convey then it gets more interesting, and adds layers and depth to a bunch of different scenes.

2024-12-05 05:58:36 +0000 UTCThe trunk has been one of my favorite Netflix releases this year, mainly because of the chemistry, songs and cinematography (just love some mature romance between adult characters lol). Just a heads up though- it falls under the psychological melodrama category with a bit of thriller thrown in and doesn’t have any major plot twists so the story may come across as slow. But it’s just 8 episodes so less stakes than other two with either more episodes or multiple seasons The World of Married and Penthouse are both makjangs with major drama and toxic characters (looking at you Lee) so that might be more up your alley. I enjoyed Penthouse more than the other cause I could connect more with the characters (not that I could relate with any of them lol but I acknowledge their motivations)
