this was absolutely amazing. as underrated as it is, link click will always be one of my top favorites & i'm so happy you guys reacted to it!
now, i've mentioned this at some point halfway throughout the season once, but: if you go back now, after the reveal of this whole story actually being lu guang's second (at least) run, to watch & listen to the opening of season 2, you'll see that both the visuals and lyrics seem to be all about lu guang!
cheng xiaoshi falling upwards until he touches lu guang's hand at the top, them facing each other only in the first half until it switches to lu guang coming face to face with li tianchen (the brother) & the possessed qiao ling. and then when everything reverts in the second part, lu guang's nowhere to be seen anymore.
then the lyrics with lines like,
"I guess that there was never such a thing like everything's meant to be, but I'ma win this silly game, until then I will never leave"
"Knowing it all, am I destined to fall? Like once you did for me"
"Wanting it all, and the whole world will crumble and fall" (in the full version)
and those are just a few examples, basically the entirety of the song shows lu guang's perspective on everything, his resolve to save cheng xiaoshi even if it ends up messing with the flow of time, etc.
link click actually does a great job at foreshadowing & symbolism, from the episodes themselves down to things like this. just thought it'd be interesting to point this out! anyway, rant over, hope everyone's having a lovely day/night!

Man, this was such a good series. I always heard great things about it + saw how highly rated it was on MAL, but just never got around to it. Well worth it.
The double-edged sword about it being an anime original is that you can't read ahead for more, but there's also no way for you to get spoiled by source readers, so you can theorize all you want.
Definitely looking forward to a S3 whenever that is.

Now it makes sense why Lu guang reacted the way he did when he thought they stopped Emma form dieing, he probably thought he had proof death couldn be prevented.
Since he always acted like no matter what the person always dies( probably because he keeps failing to save xiaoshi)

The theory that i believe rn is that Lu Guang gained Cheng powers (to go back in time with photos) after he died, just like how Pink hair girl powers seemed to be transfered to Qiao Ling when she dies and the light travels into her. That is how Lu Guang is able to travel back in time and attempt to save Cheng.

The ending was also a great example of "show don't tell". We saw that Ling inherited Tianxi's (the sister) photo-empath powers by having her die in her hands. Old timeline Xiaoshi died in Lu Guang's arms, and thus Lu Guang inherited Xiaoshi's photo jump ability. The reason he sets up so many rules are not to necessarily prevent a butterfly effect, but to prevent Xiaoshi from dying. Given the first five minutes of S2E1, the whole Emma thing was a divergence from past timelines, bringing Tianxi and Tianchen into the picture, which Lu Guang didn't seem aware of, hence why he was willing to die as long as this timeline where he dies leads to Xiaoshi living. What's interesting now is Qiao Ling has empath'd with him which throws another wrench in this timeline

Check out the first five minutes of season 2 episode 1, they put the Xiaoshi death memory there right under our noses with Lu Guang considering giving up his constant looping. I love it when they throw a huge reveal that early and we don't notice

Phenomenal ending.
Lu Guang gang, I knew Lee would be in the LGG
Shame we'll likely not get a s3/bridon reaction here... Good thing Lee's branching out to bilibili and Tencent Video
