I love that they show us a hundred different possible endings, but the real confrontation with the true culprit is anticlimactic and pointless. KC didn't HAVE to go back to the comic after he was kicked out. All he had to do was find YeonJoo in the real world. If he'd been able to think properly, he would've realized that if he was kicked out, so was she. But because his entire story has been a revenge story, when the time comes that he needs to break free of those main character shackles, he falls into old patterns instead. His face before he returns to the comic world says it all: he's going back to punish the villain. And it's framed as tragic instead of triumphant, because the whole drama he's been trying to escape this very version of himself. He's just as reckless and emotional as "the Kang Cheol in the comic" -- all his attempts to become his own man, a different man, were for naught.
