I like Lee Jong Suk`s (the main actor here) choice of projects. Usually he choses k-dramas which can be profound, comedic and interesting at the same time... I can hear your voice, W two world, While you were sleeping definetely have that in common (some are better in some aspects and may lack in other aspects but nevertheless all of them have great premise, great characters etc) so cool that we can see him on your channel in different dramas (of course i dont mean to take creadit from any other actor in the show, literally they all were so captivating and charming here)

Thank you so much for reacting. I had a blast with you all. This is one of my favorite KDramas and I have re-watched it a LOT. I like storytelling and the craft of writing so I often rewatch this writer's work as I like the way she unfolds narratives and portrays relatable and authentic human relationship with stories of ethics or morality. I'm excited to see if one of her dramas gets picked up again for a future reaction.

One thing a lot of KDrama fans always wondered is why Yeo Beom's actor never really got any big roles after this show. He's mostly in cameos and lower budget KDramas. Everyone thought he really put his all into his role in WYWS... Thuggin' til the very end, complete with his little eyebrow smirk thing

Now that we finally got While You Were Sleeping out of the way. I'll be pimpin' Start Up for another year (I'm semi kidding, I hope it picks up steam sooner). Same writer as WYWS, same female lead in Suzy. Same emotional punches while also being one of the most optimistic KDramas I've ever seen. Only thing different is a love triangle with extra toxicity. Think the love triangle in WYWS, if the two dudes actually tried to actively sabotage each other. Suzy carries the show with her optimism.

I also thought this show had one of the best epilogue sequences that I've seen, where we see the people who have been affected by the dreams of the 3 Dragons (I wonder if Choi was a Dragon? He'd have to be born in 1976, Fire Dragon, for that to be true 🐉). What's trippy is a lot of those people would have been dead, crippled, or in jail if not for the 3 Dragons. What also added to the scene was the lyrical version of the show's intro music, which was soothing.

One of my top 5's. The pacing is so great (because it was actually 32 half hour episodes, so each 30 minutes had to be impactful). Peak Suzy, and she would carry this character to every KDrama she does after. She's exactly the same in Start Up (because the writer is the same as WYWS). One scene I go back to is Choi's death and Kim Won Hae and Lee Jong Suk's work there. There's a reason why Lee Jong Suk was in a ton of KDramas between 2010-2020, because he's deceptively proficient in carrying scenes and emotion. Kim Won Hae is a master. We saw it in Lovely Runner too, where one moment he's on trial for condoms, and another he can have a deep and emotional moment with his son. While You Were Sleeping is a show I also use to introduce people to KDramas and it works.

Despite the fact that I liked the show and the ml, I can understand your point of view as to why it wasn't really your vibe and I definitely do agree the ml wasn't exactly the fun type 😭. I don't really mind criticism of characters that I like cause everyone sees and understands thinsg differently so im not gonna come jumping down anyones throat. I'm glad I got your view on it cause for some reason I just thought you weren't really into the whole youth drama thing and I didn't really count all of us are dead or weak hero cause of one being full on zombie apocalypse and the other being very angsty.

I guess it's all subjective in the end but I'm glad that you know at least that it's better than a show like Marry my husband overall, it was like s disney show for me😂 It was all too predictable, not to mention that I watched it right after The Glory and I had to compare them in terms or revenge stories, I don't have to say the winner😂In the end, yeah, I do like some shows like that too. While you were sleeping it's not really one of my favorite shows either but it is a well made story and the cast was just gold.

Oh, and then it was a lot of singing, and i coudln't enjoy it enough because A...i turn down the TV for copyrights...and B..i don't watch boys bands like that...most of the kpop reactions are girl groups...so if i watch handsome guys playing an instruments and smiling at us...I can acknowledge they are talenent and what not but i wasn't vibing UNLESS they hit me witht he swagg..because for some reason...I am fune with Sunjae in lovely runner...but the didfference was, i was living vicaiously through Sunjae...he was HIM. and i couldn't help but love him and everything he did

I appreciate you sharing your thoughts. It's interesting to hear other people's perspectives. For me personally, this show is one of my all-time favorites, and one I've rewatched quite a lot. But I can definitely think of some dramas which are not necessarily my favorites, though it's really fun to rewatch them, so it works both ways for sure ;)

i gotta be blunt with it.. the age is not a problem...All Of US Are Dead and Weak hero were fine to me....I just didn't really like the MC and his thinking of Twinkling Watermelon...you wouldnt have heard much of it cuz too many viewers cant' tolerate the MC being attacked and he's handsome as hell lol...I was fine with this dad...whenver his dad and the girl who didn't speak were on screen i was fine. The story was about these 2 homies getting closer and essentially getting to know his dad through the teenage state...but I am not really interested in 2 homies like that unless they fighting people or something...thats not a story i'd seek out on my own time.... The MC was VERY unlikeable to me, and i spent too much energy trying to understand him, which i was able to articulate...but it wasn't fun...and he was no fun...guy couldn't relax and lighten up lol....

One detail that they did well, and Lee inadvertently pointed it out an episode ago when he said "Batman and Robin are the same" is that Batman has better night vision than regular people because of his colorblindness. Same goes with dogs and how they have natural night vision from their colorblindness due to them seeing things via contrast as opposed to by color

I totally relate to rating dramas based on if one would want to rewatch certain moments or not and I can share your thought on this drama. I only rewatched the drama cause you guys were reacting to it, I haven't revisited it since I watched it like 4 years ago but I agree that it is a very well written show but I cannot see myself going back to it by myself. I do have to ask though, you mentioned how you were not able to bond or connect with the characters in Twinkling Watermelon, was that because the drama took place mostly in a high-school setting and so it gave very much coming of age/youth story and that's just not your vibe? And you prefer more like mature adult stories?

This might be my first time seeing WYWS again since I first watched it, and that is because you guys are reacting to it. That's no knock against it. It is definitely an A level kdrama. Writing and acting are top tier. A few of the kdramas I rewatch are not considered top tier. I just like watching them. It's the same for western shows as well. I like what I like so I get it.

For me I went back to rewatch it again after 3/4 months and after that there were a couple of times i went back to rewatch it over again. So for me rewatchability is not an issue for this drama. Definitely in my Top 10 list. Glad you enjoyed it.

Hmm for me it's more of a satisfying drama to watch not something that I would watch on rotation. You know a show where the bad person was a bad person, good people were good people. There's character development but not to the point where your expectations are changed. It's not like The Devil Judge or Doctor Prison where it's a gray area. Worse case is Chicago typewriter which after watching multiple time still confuses me. I think while you were sleeping is kind of like outlaw star the anime. Some people like 1 reason other people for a different reason but you tend to re-watch when ever you want remember the show or certain fight scenes.

I agree with your take on the show. I originally watched this two years ago and I loved it, but I haven't watched it over or rewatched certain scenes like I have for other dramas.
