The symbolism of dark reflections is WILD this arc. Around the Tattoine Station, a reference to Star Wars, you got Uraraka and Toga, Shoto and Dabi, Deku and Shiggy, and finally All Might and All for One.

However, there is no one controlling the serum AFO used. So it's more like a runaway effect, AFO takes significant damage, The serum scales up to that damage, and does not wind back down. TL;DR: The serum progresses faster than Eri
