(uncut) W World Ep 5

I often read about people upset that i stockpile videos, but again. I can make arrangements for a storm and not interrupt regularly uploading of content, especially when we have new members and THIS is the time to impress them with our volume of content....and even if we leave and evacuate you got content, I don't think there is many GROUP channels with 3 or more people who actively give this volume.

That being said, i appreciate your support especially the OG's who stuck around last season, we lost power and i actually ran out of videos before the power was restored.

As Spider verse said, Uncle Ben always has to die for character development. Heck, even Bruce Wayne has to die in the alternate universe where Thomas Wayne becomes the dual-gun wielding Batman

I love her range. I actually first liked her work a year before this in a movie called Beauty Inside where it's her and like 70 male/"male" leads. She was also great as the middle aged mom/spy in Moving

Author Oh falls into a trap that often results in works that have bad endings. He didn't know how he was going to end it when he began. I believe that is also what has happened to George RR Martin and why he's stuck and the TV series ending was panned. In comparison, Robert Jordan stated that when he started The Wheel of Time, he wrote the final scene first. 15 books later, Brandons Sanderson used that final scene, word for word. W dramatises that lesson for writers. Know where you are going to go before you put pen to paper.

W made me love Han Hyo Joo (Oh Yeon Joo) as an actress and since then became one of my fave actress ever.

As a writer myself, I do not think it's that weird or psychopath-y to kill your character's loved one(s). Depending on the plot or context (I once wrote a novel during a civil war, for instance), it may be making sense. Characters, like human beings, live in a logical world where you can't only go through happy times. Also, I think dad and ML are both similar and in that gray area between good and evil. Attempting to kill someone is not something many can do but they both can. ML shot FL. Yes, he thought she was not a normal person and would survive it, but it's still messed up because 1) she didn't and 2) he didn't know FOR SURE. On the other hand, dad kept trying to kill ML, thinking it was okay because he's not real. Even if he was real in the fictional world, he wasn't real in the real world. Same thing. I definitely was made uncomfortable by dad, but honestly, I was never 100% on board with ML either haha

I remember the first time I watched this, I was so happily surprised at how Kang Cheol was written. He straddles the line between hero and antihero in these first five eps, so I had no idea what he was going to do in this moment. The fact that he shot Oh Seung-Moo was so exciting. What happens now that he's acted out of character? You don't always get a writer willing to go balls-to-the-wall every episode, but Song Jae Jung jumps and doesn't look back. The whole sequence inside the writer's house is so good. I agree with you, Lee, Author Oh is an interesting character. Like Kang Cheol, he straddles the line between villain and antihero.

I like how Kang Cheol threw in the line "my friends are neither alive, nor truly dead". That and his MGS codec ringtone makes him a full on Grey Fox. Homeboy need to meet up with Big Boss and [Sniper] Wolf from DOTS....

J Man

I was mad at this guy ever since Train to Busan where he did more damage than the zombies. Homie has the worst case of villain plot armor. This drama definitely shows he has range and good speaking ability. This drama actually made me like him more because he is a relatable character, except relatable and went downtown the wrong path.

J Man

Even though Lee Jong Suk is lanky, he always has fight scenes in his dramas. He was a fighting lawyer in WYWS. In romance is a Bonus Book, I believe he throws hands as a book publisher. That's what you get in a country where every male is required to throw hands. Lucky guy too as he's dating arguably the most popular KPop singles artist in IU.

J Man

I like the reverse-isekai aspect of this show. The writer would go on to make another reverse-isekai called Memories of the Alhambra, set in Spain, where a video game creator, based off crazy game devs like Miyamoto or Kojima, has his video game come to the real world. I like that the game that invades is a SoulsBourne like Dark Souls or Elden Ring. Two strong leads in Hyun Bin and Park Shin Hye

J Man

what? her face hasn't changed it's just the styling and the way she holds herself and acts

strange& sleepless

The author has the WORST case of Imposter Syndrome. He didn't create the character of Kang Cheol, his daughter did. He can't come up with a decent ending to the story. And then the fame and fortune from the manhwa only started AFTER Kang Cheol started to write his own story. Pops prolly feels like he has no control in his life. Just as out of his control as his life before the manhwa. So he self medicates with alcohol, which caused the mom to leave. And then he over compensates when dealing with Kang Cheol: trying to stab him, trying to kill him with nonsensical story convenience, saying all that wild shit in the studio. This episode was really good. The two actors Lee Jong Suk (Kang Cheol) and Kim Eui-sung (the Dad) really ate up the dialog between them. A master class in scene work. I think it's interesting to find out this episode that Yeon-Joo is the one who created Kang Cheol which I think explains why the story of W turns into a rom-com when she's in the scenes but is an action thriller anytime else. I think she originally created Kang Cheol to be a romantic lead. A veritable man of her dreams for her to crush on.

Feather_Noir

You can actually buy ‘W’ as a comic book 😂 they sold it along with the dvd version of the show. It’s got all the scenes we see in the show in the comic world and it’s soooo cool! Peak level promotion for the show lmfao

Ruthieee

So how many surgeries did this girl go to as she looks totally different in Happiness compared to W :D

Thamor

Thank you for the update! Stay safe and Dry

The fact that the dad knows that a happy ending/catching the culprit will end the story - but he keeps trying to kill off the MC, failing repeatedly. Never trying a new angle to stop the story. I feel like that is just another indication 1) of his nature, that death is the first/only solution he thinks of. 2) That he's not very creative (ok, to be fair he might not think very clearly being scared out of his mind) . But That the success came after the story started going without the author, and like you guys discussed, the possibility that he might not be the original creator either. Author (whishes to) sees him self as a god, in control, a successful creator. Which is probably why he's so terrified, deep down he knows that he's not in control, and his success isn't actually his. Probably just feeding his feeling of failiure and inadequacy. I also enjoy how this whole story calls out plot holes. MC is questioning everything that doesn't have a logical connection. And the whole webtoon itself is taking over when the author is trying to force the story in a way that doesn't fit.

Menmjau

Godamn this girl got range

Pilausky

Very. I can’t believe its the same person lol

Rock Lee

True true… 😂 She is definitely very versatile with her acting.

Leah B

Like I will say that’s the Homie from Vincenzo but will not reference descendants of the sun for the same actor

Rock Lee

Yep when we watched happiness, we said that was the girl from Moving. Haha. I appreciate being reminded in case we didn’t know but generally we will refer to one show that we remember the character best in

Rock Lee

I can’t prove that and I can humbly be wrong just sharing my take

Rock Lee

Oh yeah, I think the translation of saying cartoon makes sense. They are saying he is a fictitious character. Calling him a cartoon character or a comic book character in my native language. But manwa character or manga character doesn’t have emotional impact. So that may be the reason for the change which worked out because that’s the reason why we reacted that way the emotional impact of using a word common in my language

Rock Lee

I think they're referring to when the subtitles called him a cartoon. It was a translation error. She actually said Manhwa.

Charlinda Jenkins

The actress playing Oh Yeon Joo isn’t only in Happiness, she also plays the mom in Moving. The one with the heightened senses.

Leah B

The subtitles told y’all that Yeon Joo told Kang Cheol that in her world he is a cartoon and y’all thought that was messed up. I’m just saying that she didn’t actually tell him that and the subtitles were wrong. She told him he is from a Manhwa, not a cartoon. 😂

Leah B

K. But yeah. I read solo Leveling haha. I am familiar with Manwa, Tower Of God is based on one. But I don’t know the context you’re referring to in this episode

Rock Lee

She called W a Manhwa which is like the Korean version of a Japanese Manga. The subtitle is weird, but she didn’t call it a cartoon.
