The Soul King created the cycle of Souls, and Yhwach had to feel the pain and fear of every Quincy that died for thousands of years. So yeah, he is a bit mad at his dad for that.

2024-10-06 05:26:12 +0000 UTCIt's pronunciation is actually just based off the fact that Japanese syllables don't end with a consonant and Japanese doesn't have a V sound. The name itself is pulled from the name of the Hebrew god directly, which when converted from Hebrew letters to Latin is YHWH (no vowels in the Hebrew alphabet and the W has a V sound). I don't know that the portmanteau theory connecting his name to the German for awake has ever left the realms of fan theory, but if you did ask a Japanese person to try to sound out YHWH it would come out 'yu ha ba ha.' There's other stuff I've read where they've read out the letters of the alphabet from Hebrew and it translates to a sentence 'i am what I am' as well as another theory connecting each letter to verbs "to be" "to cause" "to become" and "to come to pass" Again, dunno how accurate any of this is, one, none, or all of them might've been on Kubo's mind and I'd have to do more digging to see if he's said anything official yet. Maybe sometime else keeps up with the Klub Outside stuff enough to enlighten us further here Edit: found one thing on Klub Outside and apparently early on Yhwach had another name, Yhwach Beltz, Beltz is Basque for black. Dunno where that leaves this discussion, but hey, there it is Also, apparently every major enemy in each arc has a color associated with their name, going back to Byakuya in SS.
