But can she change it tho? I thought only Jae Chan (ML) can change anyone's fate but surely not his own tho right?

Heavenly Demonic Emperor

Let's talk dream mechanics! (I love this ish.) Hong Joo (FL) dreams about anyone/everyone. As Woo Tak described, she is Patient Zero. Most recently she has had an increase in dreams involving the two men in her life but her dreams still can feature anyone at any given moment regardless. Jae Chan (ML) dreams *only* moments that Hong Joo is in. Woo Tak (2ML) *only* dreams about moments Jae Chan is in. So far, there are no exceptions to this pattern. However, any one of our 3 leads can/do dream things from different timelines usually hinging on someone's choice. So we had one time a couple of eps ago where Hong Joo and Woo Tak both had a dream of the same event but one dreamed of one timeline and the other dreamed a different timeline. The reality was a 3rd timeline that no one dreamed about but all 3 dreams hinged on the choice Jae Chan made between 3 possible ways to handle the organ donor/autopsy case. That case had a triple timeline possibility. Also remember that the very first episode featured a double timeline too. Hong Joo's 1st dream showed Jae Chan saving her from being blamed for Woo Tak's death in the car accident which prevented her mom's death. Meanwhile, Jae Chan dreamed that he didn't stop the accident, her mom died, Hong Joo jumped from the hospital roof. But Hong Joo *also* dreamed that she was in an accident, woke up in the hospital, and her mother was already dead so she lost it and cut off her hair. This means that Hong Joo had 2 dreams of 2 completely different timelines in the 1st ep. And interestingly they were not in any particular order and the timeline switching also hinged on Jae Chan making a choice. In this episode we see Hong Joo have a dream of one timeline in which Jae Chan happily meets her on the street and gives her a ring. Then after Jae Chan decides to let Woo Tak's friend go, she has another dream that he gets stabbed. I have a theory that while Hong Joo and Woo Tak have the dreams, changes in timelines always happen per Jae Chan's will and action. So far, every multi timeline situation or change in the dream happens because Jae Chan decides something. Thematically this makes sense because the story starts Jae Chan as someone who refuses to get involved in things because he's afraid of shouldering responsibility over someone's life. So the universe is forcing him to be the main person who can choose the ultimate fate of their dreams. I also believe that because our 3 Flying Dragons have decided to approach their dreams and life difficulties as a unit that relies on each other, they all show up more often in Hong Joo's "random person" dreams. This is because she is more likely to rely on them to help her with dealing with what she sees, they will always help her, so subsequently she will dream about them being involved in events she sees. It's actually quite circular how much the 3 are entwined with each other. This is because I think the writer is trying to highlight how much building community and interpersonal reliance on each other is essential to not just living but thriving in a society.

Is it random… πŸ€”

Anah!

I was surprised that y’all thought of the rumba but it’s a more common thing now but I remember when this drama came out in 2017 it wasn’t so common so it was surprising. To me the case didn’t make sense for it to be accidental but we had to trust the main lead. It wasn’t till they explain that the girl suffers from vertigo and occasionally faints.

Anah!

I can’t believe they actually filmed a scene of them as a church choir in while in court LMAOOO

zaphyre

I think from what we've seen so far - FL dreams about everyone, ML mostly dreams about FL (who saved him when they were young) and 2ML mostly dreams about ML (who saved him from the car accident in EP1). Although exceptions are always possible, I suppose.

Marvelous JJ

Also.... I have my thoughts on the "dark past" storyline with Batman, but I'll save that til later

J Man

Adorkable is right in that Suzy seems to dream about random people (like the random dude who blew himself up at a gas station or her dad) while the dudes dream about other dream people. That said it helps that the dudes supplement her power since she was never able to change fate. Batman being most capable since his detective abilities allow him to change fate without supplement

J Man

Great reaction! I kinda had the same reaction to Suzy's dream, I'm glad that you pointed it out at the end, it's not much from our perspective but it's bad from her character's perspective.
