What I'm about to say isn't really a spoiler, because it's never really been addressed in the series. More of a theory. Regarding Rosty : Rosty Nowman sounds a lot like - Frosty Snowman. And Rosty's strange infatuation with Will and all of the questionable actions - What were episodes 6 and 7 about? What was revealed there? If you think about all of these things together, I think you can better understand Rosty's actions.

If you make a bet with someone in public, even if it's to a book-learner laggard and only dwarves are around to hear it, you hold up your end of the bet. He would lose MORE pride than if he didn't pay the penalty. And after this episode, I'd totally expect Rosti to be the type to spread rumors of how Julius would've been an Oath-breaker. "He can't be trusted to uphold a bet, how can he be trusted with holding up the sky?" I'd bet you anything Sion won't be getting scouted anytime soon, since he can't be trusted not to stab a teammate in the back. If I were Lihanna, I wouldn't have invited Sion at all.
