Emily literally says that she grows from all of their answers etc to her questions etc asked, hence why she is so happy to chat w/ bazillions of people etc. Also I don't think she's Emily since she's REEEEEEing at Emily for thinking the bot will be able to become a human (you saw the Emily reply "I love you too" to the Traveler dude get backspace'd in real-time, after which the woman hooked to the VR dive pod or w/e started schizoing out). I think Acorn Workshop cheated by using an AI w/ connected meatbags to make it seem more real than a fully software based AI could be, given that the live person has access to modifying the Emily line prompts etc in real-time
