I like the character stories of this show but a lot of the times i'm wishing they focused more on the restaurant plot. I really wanted to see the review all season and they just left it on a cliffhanger lol

To me Syd just isnt built for this. One, shes overeager to always prove herself. When Gordan Ramsay was training under his teachers, he didnt say a single word except Yes Chef. Exactly what Carmy did. Yes, it gave Carmy PTSD but as a result, he was able to become excellent. Syd faces the same pressure and instead of excelling, she cracks, complains and quits. She did the same thing season 1 which I have not yet forgiven her for. Carmy has his fairshare of blame but Syd is by no means good. She isnt built for this. Go do an office job if you cant handle this pressure. And lets not forget SHE was the one that brought up a star in the first place. Carmy said "fuck stars" in season 2. Shes those younguns that think they know it all but when actually facing the real deal, they crack and blame others.

The pastry chef at the dinner, Malcolm Livingston II (the guy who told the story about getting a haircut during service), is a very well-known pastry chef from the Bronx who has worked at both Per Se and Noma. Chris Storer largely based the character Marcus Brooks on Livingston when he was developing the show.

The chef at the very beginning teaching Carmy how to truss chickens is Thomas Keller, who is the owner and executive chef of The French Laundry (the real one), and one of the most highly acclaimed chefs in the world. He owns two restaurants with three Michelin stars - The French Laundry in Napa, and Per Se in New York City. There are only 13 restaurants in the entire U.S. that currently have three Michelin stars - and Keller owns two of them (and no one else does). The irony about Keller's gentle approach to Carmy is that the character David Fields (the evil executive chef played by Joel McHale), the source of so much of Carmy's PTSD, was loosely based on the real Thomas Keller.
Virtually all the chefs seen during the funeral dinner are real well-known chefs within the culinary world, who have worked at and opened some of the best restaurants in the world. Ever is also a real restaurant, but the real restaurant only has two Michelin stars (which is still a very elite club), and is most definitely still open. This episode and the Forks episode last season were both filmed in the real restaurant, so I'm sure some fans of the show have made visits to the place, though it doesn't come cheap - $325 per person, which does not include alcohol, tax, or gratuity. So a dinner for two there is gonna set you back about $1,000 if you get the wine pairings.

Yea of course. Same here. I felt it was a bit long to listen to but it’s very normal and expected lol. They are all very different individuals and the one thing they have in common is being Chefs and they are all experienced. Youd wanna hear from each other.

I was vibing with those chefs' energy. When you're truly passionate about something, you can keep talking about it forever even if you already do it for a living. I've got passions which flip that switch too so was very relatable

Yeah, I know. Adorkable is pretty tough with all characters that are kinda like Carly in general, so I respect her POV and I like her consistency, lol. It's a very nice balance with you and Director as well. That's what makes the reactions even better!

Lol. Yea. I generally agree. Carmy is incredibly frustrating to watch and requires a great of consideration and empathy to understand imo. Personally i get it. Lol. But i don’t argue with AdorkableNerd much on these topics. Shes pretty consistent in those feelings and unless i have concrete facts. Her mind not gonna really change. Lol.
She would only cut him slack to appease the viewer if they don’t like what she thinks and she’ll just be quiet and say her opinion to me off screen.
You can persuade me with nuance or what not. I generally give characters/people the benefit of doubt. No surprise. I like Villains and i was the first to like Richie and that was from Toxic behavior and he ended up wholesome lol.

Fantastic reaction! I think Adorkable is way too hard on Carmy. Like, please don’t hold it all against him. I know he’s not guilt-free, and he is perpetuating what that asshole chef did to him, but he tries and tries. I’ve said that his main issue is communication, cause he keep doing things by himself sometimes, but it’s something he needs to learn. Now, I’m not saying Syd shouldn’t quit. She should do what she feels like doing, but she seems confused even with the proposition Chef Adam gave her. So it’s not fair to say she’s thinking of quitting solely because of Carmy. Also, keep in mind that the last job he had before going to The Beef (currently The Bear) was in NY with that asshole chef, and he quit when Michael died, so… Please cut him some slack, lol.
And the fact that he’s going all in with the Michelin stars after what happened with Claire just take us back to what that jerk asshole said, and how Carmy “thrived” when he was being toxically pushed, and now what happened with Claire is part of the fuel for his anxious antics… It’s a vicious cycle and it reminds me of Donna, and how she said she’s trying to be healthier, but it’s not easy.
