Also just saw ep5, the end intentionally shows "NTR". Its clear that cuckery is a theme in this show, its reasonable to assume they'd extend it to him as well. Im still watching because I hope otherwise and that the MC pulls through somehow.

You assert that he is truly only seeking a platonic friendship and that him being abnormal (i.e. no friends/awkward) facilitates that - which is a valid (and in hindsight obvious) point that I overlooked. Additionally, you say that the scene is depicted differently in the canon manga (big point) showing that he truly only wants platonic friendship without any room for misunderstanding. When you frame it this way, I actually agree. This way, his friendship with her is not disempowering and he remains true to himself. And since you successfully changed the premise I was operating on, I now see it as a win for the MC as he now finally made his very first friend. In terms of optics, however, If he chooses to pursue a relationship with Anna down the line, I still want him to level up and surpass Sousuke and the other guys. I simply don't want my MC that I root for to be cucked or placed in a disempowering position. I want him to succeed and be better, not to be cucked. I’m the kind of guy that prefers to watch shows from a 1st person perspective so from man to man, I'm sure you can see why I think this way.

Even if she's single on paper, her heart is still enraptured by another man which is what bothers me. I think your second point is valid but it takes an egotistically secure person to see it that way - so it really depends on the viewer's perspective. For those individuals who are very egotistically secure, I think it's true and any future relationship with Anna poses no problem. But for others like me, I can't help but see him as anything but “leftovers” or the backup option to Sousuke (who is depicted as a physically, and socially superior person) which is very disempowering to Nukumizu should he choose to enter into relationship with Anna down the line. If this was me, it's not a position I'd be comfortable in as a man. I’d prefer to be the first pick of my woman as opposed to this. As for Lemon, great. I’m curious to see what happens on that front.

I think its reasonable had he been a more normal person. But he has always been a loner and obviously awkward around people. Hes embarrassed and blushing because its his first time being around someone so much they can be considered friends. Even if you were right that he was starting to like her, it was not his intention to befriend her on the premise he would eventually date her. It seems that way when he said the whole "you gotta let the relationship grow for two years" but in the manga, his face expression was different and he was more speaking in an "not personal" way, if that makes sense. So he was not referencing their relationship but just what he believed was ideal IF he wanted to date her. At this point in time, he has no feelings for her beyond friendship. Or at the very least, he himself does not understand or perceive it to be love. Which makes his decision better because, once again, hes not being her friend with the conscious intent of dating her once her feelings goes away. The most likely scenario, since this is an anime romcom, is that both will catch feelings for each other somewhere down the line. But at this point, neither are ready for that step.

Like Anna said in the episode, she will eventually move on from liking Sousuke so I don't see the problem if ever Nukumizu and Anna start a relationship in (in Nukumizu's own words) 2-3 years down the road With regards to anything Lemon, you just have to wait and see since next episode will start her book

What I dont like is that the MC is chasing her when her heart is still elsewhere. I disagree on the premise and dont think he wants her just as a friend (maybe immediately, yes I agree but defo not long term). The way I see it is that this is a romance anime and he was considering the possibility of a romantic relationship with anna (as seen in ep1 on the rooftop). This tells me that while he might not be 100% certain of his feelings yet, i do believe they're there and will soon manifest. So the fact he's going down this rabbit hole with a woman whose heart is already taken is whats cucked. In this scenario, i think most guys would be better off with another girl that actually finds them attractive. I do agree with you that his plea for friendship was genuine, but I think deep down he wants a relationship with this taken woman when there are other more viable, less emotionally damaging options. I will say though that if he TRULY ONLY WANTS to be PLATONIC friends with her, with absolutely no romance involved, then I think its fine as he would be true to himself. But I dont think thats the case.

That would be her just using him as a rebound which would be horrible. She also never strung him along, the fact she is straight with him every time they talk is what makes their interaction great. Also saying Nukumizu is getting cucked is also false. Nukumizu is good at reading things that aren't related to himself or his feelings, I doubt he even knows hisbtrue feelings regarding Anna, but for now his plea for friendship was very much genuine. As his sister has been saying, he has never made friends before, so he has a hard time going through this new experience. Anywho, that is all. Enjoy this upcoming arc Lemon enjoyers!
