Like in hindsight….the kiss was random..(but still makes enough sense also given the other lady probably hates men at this point). But the spontaneousness and fun of the season was a blast. Also a different reaction when you were with people you know. Cuz you see us seeing if we on the same page. Hahaha.

In the original Game of Thrones, Arya has a bunch of scenes at Harrenhal with Tywin in season 2 that were completely made up, but because they were awesome, no one complained. If you're going to make a change, it's gotta be good.

She herself has not proven she deserved the loyalty of her men

I agree that being a woman definitely played its part, but it doesnt mean men wont respect you if show them you are worthy of respect. Ollena, Cersei, Rhaenys, Visenya. They all project authority in various ways. Whether its widsom, cruelty, experience or just presence alone. Rhaenyra has been Queen for a few weeks. Viserys been King for years and people still spoke over him. She expects blind loyalty. I recall a moment when Viserys told her that all small council ppl have their self interests and thats inevitable but Rhaenyra disagreed that it shouldn't be that way.

2024-07-24 10:19:24 +0000 UTCThere are various bits of bad writing on the show I won't argue with, but Rhaenyra has theoretically been groomed to rule since she was 14, so she should know all of these things. The difference between her and Aegon is that he is a 20yo boy who is talked over because he knows nothing, and the show is presenting us with the idea that Rhaenyra is a grown woman who is being talked over for no other reason than she is a woman. That's what makes it superficially easy to be on Rhaenyra's side, the argument of tradition and divine right to rule holds no weight to most modern viewers, I hope. But the idea that someone is more suited to rule than another person because one of them is a woman is abhorrent. On the other side, it's also more fun to root for a dramatic hot mess, which is where I assume the Greens get some steam.

Every step of the way, instead of making her position stronger, she complains about how everyone owes her and looks down on her but she does nothing to make her own claim stronger. Viserys gave her a pick of any lord in the kingdom. What she do? Fucks her kingsguard. Procrastinates until Viserys is pissed off and had her wed a homosexual which led to her unable to have legitimate children. If she fancied Ser Harwin why couldnt she just choose him in the first place. Like I said, Cole is wrong and a cunt. But he also spoke some truth. She is spoiled and flaunts her privilege quite easily. She is the rightful heir to the throne. Doesnt mean she deserves it.

Daemon, Aemond, Rhaenys, Otto, even Viserys at his final moments, all radiated the energy of a ruler and somebody to be feared. With or without a dragon, you cant help but see them as someone great. Rhaenyra is better than Aegon but nowhere near the above. Im confused to why ppl agree that Aegon should listen to his counselors but cheer for Rhaenyra when she ignores her own. She has no wisdom in ruling. She and Aegon both didnt want the throne and now they have no idea how to rule. Yet they both believe they are entitled to respect and fear because they wear a crown. Nah, I have no respect for either of them. You want the respect of your followers? You earn it. She slapped the guy for what? He presented an idea. She ignored it countless times and imposed her own. The result? Meleys and Rhaenys dead. Ser Darklyn, dead. Perhaps she can toss some of that ego out that clearly isnt working, and start LISTENING. She doesnt want to listen to them because they are men and somehow she sees taking their advice as being under them. But since Mysaria is a woman, shes like "yeah I can take her advice". Whats the difference between that and men ignoring women for advice? She chooses what she wants to hear. Well, look where that got Aegon. Man got cooked.

We didn't even know she was queer in this version. The book hints much more that she's bi, but it was between her and Laena (Daemon's black wife). Those scenes would have been in season 1, but the show decided to age Alicent down and invent a friendship between her and Rhaenyra and didn't really do much with Laena.
