It's the rare "video game" KDrama, and I think even rarer in general, a drama based off FromSoftware games like Dark Souls or Elden Ring. That drama uses the FromSoft features well too to dramatic effect. Dark Souls has "ghosts" that invade your game and the first half of the show does a great job with the invader feature. The 2nd half of the show got me to tear up a bit with the use of the FromSoft "ally" feature

I think it was actually Vincenzo that cheated on Song Hye Kyo with a european lady? Vincenzo (I kid, real name Song Joong Ki) ended up marrying that european lady too. Was that lady his italian teacher who prepared him for the role in Vincenzo? Probably not, but that would be a spicy real life twist. Happy that Song Hye Kyo bounced back by having one of the biggest KDramas the last five years, The Glory.

The downside is that, since it's the same author, the vibe is similar to Lovely Runner and could be too alike as a follow-up show; Romcom 16 episodes x 60 minutes Extraordinary You (어쩌다 발견한 하루 - 2019) Ridding on the success of Lovely Runner once again, it has the same female lead and is an easy watch. Again, it could be too similar on the lighthness of the show; Fantasy rom-com. 16 episodes x 70 minutes (the network cut the episodes in two, so you may see it as 32 x 35 minutes) Because this is my first life (이번 생은 처음이라 - 2017) Similar vibes to Fight for my way, in the sense of young adulthood trying to figure out their life a less than ideal society; Rom-com 16 episodes x 60 minutes The Atypical family (히어로는 아닙니다만 - 2024) Family focused show that is romantic, but not a romance show, involving fantasy elements of superpowers. Based on other reactors, the numbers would be lower than Queen of tears and Lovely Runner, but would do around the same as Marry my husband. Obviously this will vary per channel. 12 episodes x 60 minutes SKY Castle (thriller/drama) (SKY 캐슬) - 2018 Toxic energy all around - affluent family and the drama of keeping social hierarchy through their children's IVY league education. Good for ridding on the popularity of Lovely Runner due to the female lead have a prominent role (not a lead), as well as actor playing Kim Tae Sung. 20 episodes x 60-80 minutes

2024-07-10 05:01:17 +0000 UTCroommate has some of hyeri's worst acting. and that's saying a lot because i can't stand to watch her in most of her shows. i think she was ok in 88 but her best role was in itaewon class lbr. hospital playlist is an incredibly smart and quick witted drama. i think they would enjoy it but unfortunately i also think they would miss a lot of the nuance and a lot of the references or jokes. dp would be an amazing drama for them to react to. i worry, however, because it can be considered a much slower paced show and may also have some cultural nuance that they won't understand without some background on korean conscription and they issues many faced, are facing, and will continue to face when enlisted. your claimed 'surface' dramas seem to contain two of the ones that they enjoyed; business proposal and fight for my way. i'm not entirely sure why you added those when they've seen them and even have them on a list of ones they liked. i haven't seen king, so i can't comment on that. but i have seen the others and can agree that dots isn't amazing, but true beauty has a similar feel to lovely runner, and while they probably wouldn't like it as much as lovely, i personally think they would enjoy it. i think a lot of dramas are definitely more hyped than they have any right to be (mouse, strong woman, strangers from hell, vincenzo....the list goes on...), but they seem to like enough of a variety and dislike enough similar dramas that it's pretty hard to determine what would and wouldn't be a good watch for them. ps; i would also love for them to watch beloved summer simply for the slice of life and comedy, but i fear that it may also be a bit slow for them. i think pacing is important and i think that while the show was great, the storyline could have been sped up in certain places.

It would help cos they could give give them context. I.e: healer is a classic so newer kdrama watches might not know it but it’s similar to etc… the options still ain’t bad this time tho.

My favorite drama of his is One Spring Night, but I'd never suggest it for a reaction on here. Ever. Our Beloved Summer is top tier along with Welcome to Samdal-ri. (big rewatch quality). Start up was good and so was Hometown Cha Cha but I haven't rewatched either.

It has my boo in it, but even she couldn't save it for me. I have seen all of the rest. WYWS is the best show up there, then HDL and then DOTS. DOTS is way below. The epicness of it is similar to how I feel about Crash Landing, but Crash Landing is far superior. Out of those 3 that I've watched, I've only rewatched WYWS and HDL.

I initially skipped it because I didn't want to watch a generic drama about tech start-ups, but instead it's a Drama about optimism while also having a very stressful love triangle. Great characters and story. I always recommend Hometown Cha Cha Cha as a good follow up to Start Up. If only to watch an "alternate ending" for Good Boy

The thriller and emotional part of that is really strong though. Not to mention, fans of FromSoftware video games would really get into it if they only knew it was about FromSoft games like Dark Souls or Elden Ring (Hyun Bin being the video game developer, trying to create his augmented reality version of Elden Ring). They integrate things like FromSoft's PvP and PvE well into the drama. Like in episode 1 when the PvP with his "rival" leads to the big initial mystery.

A bunch of rich opera singers trying to backstab and literally stab each other... Logan Lee is also an awesome character! Ju Dan Te is an absolute ham in a good way. Til this day, I'd argue that Penthouse and World of the Married are the apex of fun-toxic KDramas.

Song Joong Ki (Vincenzo from Vincenzo) and Song Hye Kyo (Dong Eun from Glory). It ended up similar to Crash Landing where the main couple got married in real life. Unfortunately, that marriage ended in a nasty breakup.

On the flip side, I still can't figure out wtf Descendents of the Sun's plot even was... Also, don't let anyone tell you it's got action. It's "action" is abyssmal and the plot drags worse than Goblin. That drama was a waste of time and I was really into kdramas when I watched it. For more suggestions, I'd add on Good Manager (aka Chief Kim). That one is just insanely good comedy.

The show is primarily a thriller/suspense drama, with the romance as more of a subplot. I've seen reactions ranging from 1k to 40k, so it def varies. I find Hotel De Luna overrated too but only in romance department, the rest is good. As a kdrama fan of many years now all I can say is that 2012-16 dramas are best especially 2016 dramas are classic. My personal suggestions would be: Memories of Alhambra, Extraordinary You, My Love from Star, Angel's Last Mission: Love, Mr Sunshine, The Heirs, Legend of the blue sea, Kill me heal me, Rooftop Prince, Queen In Hyun's Man, The K2, Healer, City Hunter, Hello Monster, The King: Eternal Monarch, W: two worlds, While you were sleeping, Chicago Typewriter, 30 but seventeen, I'm not a robot, School 2015, Tale of the nine tailed season 1 and 2, Touch your heart, The Last Empress, Dream High, Cheese in the trap, Birth of a beauty, Item, Blue Birthday, My first love/Longing Heart, Hymn of Death, Blood, Hi! School Love On, Signal, Exo Next Door.

Every episode ends with crazy plot twists! Romance, Revenge, Murder, Mystery, action it includes everything. Also, a story from a mostly a women’s perspective too! Another suggestion would be the world of the married!! Descendants of the sun is old drama and I could never finish it. The romance was boring and nothing happened in the plot too. Like i can't imagine post or pre episode discussions.

Hometown Cha Cha Cha (8/10) (2021) (16 ep, Romance, Comedy, Drama) : Yoon Hye-jin, a woman dedicated to success, and Mr. Hong, a man devoted to happiness, were born to be nuisances to each other. They fall out of rhythm and out of step, but somehow, that lack of synchronization became enjoyable. The drama that i recommend is drama from CJ ENM and i really hope you guys can react to one day. For dramas that are not from TvN or somethng, this is my recommendation. 1. Welcome to Samdal-ri ft. Shin Hye-sun (main actress in Mr. Queen) (9/10) (2023) (16 eps, Drama, Romance, Comedy) : After suffering a fall from grace, a photographer returns to her hometown and bumps into her childhood friends. 2. Our Beloved Summer (8/10) (2022) (16 eps, Drama, Romance) : Cant say much because of potential spoilers. And lastly are my favorite dramas but not sure if this is good for reactions or not. 1. Our Blues (10/10) (2022) (Drama, Romance, Slice of Life, Family) (CJ ENM) : Romance is sweet and bitter - and life riddled with ups and downs - in multiple stories about people who live and work on bustling Jeju Island. I really like this drama because each episode has a diffrent "main character" buth the story remains connected to the other episodes. 2. Something in the rain (9/10) (2018) (16 eps, Drama, Romance, Slice of Life): Well, in my opinion, this drama feels very real, they are not a conglomerate or anything like that, just two people who love each other and in fact every time I watch this I feel like I am peeking into their personal lives because the chemistry and story feel very real. 3. My Liberation Notes ft. KIM JIWON (9/10) (2022) (16 eps, Drama, Romance, Slice of Life) : Three siblings, exhausted by the monotony of day-to-day adulthood, seek to find fulfillment and freedom from their humdrum lives. Idk if you will read all of this or not, but i really hope you will react one of my favorite dramas someday.

The FL is Han Hyo Joo, who played Lee Mi Hyun = Bong Seok's mom in Moving! - The Legend of the Blue Sea - 2016. Hilarious scenes, great story. Jun Ji Hyun is amazing in this role ^^ - Two weeks - 2013. With Lee Joon Gi (from Flower of evil). Very intense drama, in the thriller/action category. - Chicago Typewriter - 2017. Comedy, Romance, Supernatural. Takes place in modern days and during the 1930s Japanese occupation of Korea. - Mad dog - 2017. Action/thriller category. Tags would be Revenge, Fraud, Corruption. Some of the less intense parts reminded me of the american tv series Leverage. - Shopping King Louie - 2016. Such an easy lighthearted watch but not boring with some heartfelt moments. In the comedy & romance category. - What's wrong with Secretary Kim - 2018. In the comedy & romance category. So good! With Park Min Young from Marry my Husband. - Signal - 2016. Thriller, Mystery, Sci-Fi. Not time travel but a connection between different timelines. Very, very good. - SKY Castle - 2018/2019. Mystery, Psychological, Drama. Social commentary. Quite intense emotionally. - Six Flying Dragons - 2015. I'm putting that one in the list even though I don't have much hope that you would do it one day because it's 50 episodes... BUT it's an amazing story about the beginning of the Joseon Dynasty in Korea, inspired by real people and real events, but with of course additional imagined characters and events, a romanticized version. There are some great sword fights and some romance but also a lot of it is politics and manipulations and both "good" and "bad" characters that ends up being more in the morally grey area (at least in my opinion). So, even if you never watch it as a reaction, maybe you'll watch it for yourselves one day... All these dramas are rated above 8/10 on mydramalist.com, which is a good indicator that most watchers really enjoyed them ^^

Whenever you want to switch to the zombie genre, I recommend "The Kingdom". If you're into crime investigation, I suggest "Stranger". I guarantee you won't be disappointed with these two.

I have to actually explain how I choose my recommendations for this particular channel. I may be the only one having this opinion but not all dramas should be recommended to every reactors. It should be an educated pick. I always base mine on storyline( + popularity of course lol ). The length and depth in which these 3 go to explain, predict and review these dramas, demands one that will, not only be layered in meaning but also fun and diverse in events. That being established, I dont base my recommendation on which I like , but on what I feel like your input my change or affirm a lot of people's opinion. I dont even base it on what the reactor feels like he might like ( if I have watched the drama , and knows how the reactors typically reacts to events) , because expectations do get let down often when we proceed like this. For one, the surface level dramas will be lost on you, no matter how good the actors are. It could actually be a negative to only recommend popular ones because the actors best side is not being portrayed no matter how hard they try. People! If you really like your favorite actors , dont recommend the drama in which he is the most handsome, but one where his acting shines the most, not everyone watches drama for visual. secondly , the storyline could be good but if our 3 reviewers can't relate somehow, somewhere, with one of the main character, they will not engage with the drama as much (very low impact on them) . Lastly ... And this one is one of my favourites, because its what set this channel from others.. THE TOXICITY . They looove and appreciate toxicity to a healthy level lmaoo. So i dont shy away from drama where the main cast is not all pure and good. Which brings me to my main point. Y'all will love this drama. Idc for people who talk about fast and slow pace. We are currently watching two dramas that might as well give us an ulcer, we could do with some slowing down. And the actors gave their best performance to date, in my opinion. That's why our beloved summer is my pick. And I hope patrons will have a similar approach to polls. Great Storyline the best vehicle for incredible acting, which produces the best k dramas. And these drama usually never fail to gather audience. Our beloved summer : 78k-34k audience . Other drama that I picked based on the same principles : Sky castle, Mr sunshine, the red sleeve, my roommate is a gumiho, hospital playlist, while you were sleeping, my love from the stars, suspicious partners, DP. I will give example of drama when I talk about surface level storyline, im not saying its not good storyline im saying it doesn't invite or demand much thinking effort. Its all around good but basic in the realm of k dramas ( what we commonly call "cringe" but sweet) : King the land , business proposal, true beauty, fight for my way, descendant of the sun. Please dont kill me. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

Very trippy too, to the point where the drama feels like it has you in a genjutsu at various points with the twists and clever usage of the show's gimmick. While You Were Sleeping also has the best actress (imo) out of the selectable KDramas, Bae Suzy. Yes, even over Park Min Young. Suzy is that damn good 😎

The male lead's actor is the actor that played the Good Boy character. Almost everyone who watched Start Up immediately jumped to Cha Cha Cha for that reason
