I think he has done things for so long and been at the top of everything and controlled everything so much that he doesn't have any doubts but he thinks through the entire scenarios going on in order to figure out his best options. He is a little like deku where him and deku both have very high intelligence of battle tactics and decision making. But Deku has the flaw where his emotions get the best of him. Although at the same time I think because all for one is so sure of himself with everything he does that it is his own flaw. He can't see everything coming but he is sure of himself in his thinking and how he can handle situations. When it comes up against all might you could say he just wasn't quite good enough overall to beat him but he was still strong enough to damage all might bad enough that damage he had lost internal organs and that was what limited his power so much up until he faced all for one again in the season 3 fight. I think you can definitely trick him but he is very sure of himself in my opinion but thats what can be his potential downfall because he is possibly so sure of himself. Obviously all might was able to barely overcome him with brute force and that final fight they had in season 3 all might used a tactic Deku would use by sacrificing his arm getting severely damaged in order to trick all for one to get his final hits in. Which a lot of people missed out on in that final fight. Even all for one said those tricks aren't like all might. So Deku being an inspiration of his wild fighting tactics was what made all might win that final fight which I thought was pretty cool. Hope I didn't somehow misunderstand what you were saying but these are just my thoughts on that.
