It was one of my first anime romance shows that I consumed from start to finish and the lite novel has more into the future that wasn't included in the anime. I loved this though. Aside from that I really loved the ending and how it basically ended like it started with Taiga hiding in that closet from Ryuji, which is how the first episode ended. The first anime to ever emotionally resonate with me outside of Sailor Moon and DBZ (I'm old). Hearing the mom's story again as a single mom in a similar situation, hits so much differently now than it did before I had kids. Tbh I think the first time I watched it, I related more to Taiga, and now I relate more to Yasuko lol

Taiga needed to work on herself without depending on Ryuji as much she has been for months. Needed to fix her relationship with her mom and find herself outside of her relation to other people. The last two episodes squeezed in an entire novel worth of material that much more clearly spelled things out about Ryuuji 's mom. It's not 10 years, it's the whole 18 years. When Ryuuji's mom ran away from home at 16 years old, until this day her parents didn't know if she was alive or dead or if she even had the baby.

2024-05-16 22:13:11 +0000 UTCJust so you know lee the time skip wasnt a year, it was more like a couple months (in the manga is 2 months but in the anime is like 5 months total) so in those times they did in fact talked by text, taiga went to fix the broken family she has to give ryuji her love fully. Yasuko is best mom doing everything she could for ryuji and they could have ended like her but took the right approach at the end. Toradora ending always feel like a rollercoaster but is still a really strong rom com, at least for me is one of the top 5 most memorable ones. Edit: Thank you for an amazing reaction to an amazing series, with everything that happened with this one is still one of the best reaction you put out so keep it going!

2024-05-16 21:08:00 +0000 UTCYou're right at the end about his mom lee. The story didn't smash us in the face with it using exposition, they just showed us her interacting with her parents. Same with the photos he found in taiga's bag. Taiga didn't just buy photos of kitamura, she got one of takasu b/c even back then she was developing feelings for him, and takasu realizes it when he finds the photo. I love that there was no exposition there, no inner monologue abiut its meaning or a flashback yo remind us. That's part of what puts this anime so high up there for me.
