I think based on the manga. Tanjiro's family are the ones who inherit the power and technique of the first Hashira, one who almost killed Muzan. So, Tanjiro had the mark while Nezuko had it in her blood. That's why demons get burned in her blood and why she could stand without drinking blood and still control herself in some way. This is also the reason she was able to walk in the sun.

By training up the regular scrubs, they're Raising the Floor: Raising the minimum level of skill of your weakest troops. This is the calm before the storm, so just sit back and relax. Also, death doesn't have to happen for a series to be entertaining or engaging.
