For me, there are kdramas (and c-dramas) that I absolutely LOVE and still rewatch to this day, but will never suggest it for a reaction. That's because not every show is good for a reaction. Some shows are good as shit but would be terrible to watch a reaction to. It is what it is. Lovely Runner is on my list to watch, but it's behnd QoT and TW. For me, if we're doing shows that center kids, college is more the lane I stay in for dramas. High school shows can be a lot. But honestly I feel like that about American and British shows too.

let's not disregard the actors good acting and say he's only good looking that's why it's a hit so many are good looking but their dramas are not a hit his good looks are just a bonus and you obviously didn't watch it if you think it's a teen romance because it goes through all stages in life not just teen maybe check before you judge

Lovely Runner is actually going popular in KOREA because of NOSTALGIA feels and atmosphere it's showing, Hyeyoon and Wooseok acting and THEIR CHARACTERS. Most of people tuned in seeing the twist they saw at the end of ep2 and how the story progressed after that. Everyone is staying for the story and then finding ML's CHARACTER attractive 😅[Not the ACTOR in the first place, him being handsome was just a plus point], most of them didn't even know he existed before the show why because he didn't show this type of ACTING or CHARACTER performance before this. Knetz are praising FL acting👏 all time. Just because ml is handsome and international fans are hyping it, that shouldn't undermine the real reason of it's success 🤷‍♀️

It's one of the reasons, not the only reason, otherwise all of Cha Eunwoo's drama would be a hit. Idk if you have watched it, but maybe you don't follow it closely so that's the only thing you see people talk about, so I would like to elaborate more. In South Korea, they call Lovely Runner a crazy drama, everyone going crazy about it atp, and that's thanks to the interesting plot, the directing, the chemistry between the leads, the ost, and many elements combined. After each episode, the trending hot topic was not about how handsome the male lead is but it was about the unexpected twists, the theory and details in the plot, and the incredible acting of the actors, especially Kim Hye-yoon who played the female lead. Byeon Woo-seok, who played the male lead also did an amazing job in portraying the character that in my opinion (and many more people) the greenest male lead I've seen in kdrama, absolutely a character that is written by a woman. People all call him by his character's name now, and that adds up to his increasing popularity. And also it's not only teen romance since their love story spans from high school to their early 30s, the high school is only a part of it.

Hello. You get a nice long answer hahaha. Your comment is good. There is no new kdrama that is worth reacting to based on audience size and research. I have already prescreened it in advance. Those types of nuances are always present Whenever you see a poll there is a great deal of info in my head not being conveyed for numerous reasons. There really isn’t a need to have multiple new shows on the same poll because i already know the most popular new show (aside from YouTube analytics i get hundreds of comments. You can note a pattern). Generally i can cover all new shows that get high views, usually 1 kdrama is dominant though. I can simply plug in the name of the show into my YouTube analytics and see how many people search for it and i can see the view count on channels covering it prior to taking the plunge. It’s generally a proven model. Theres often only 1 or 2 max Kdramas that meet the view threshold to be worth the editing and recording costs associated. (They cost 3x the amount of anime) When i place a new show against an old show. I know the new show will generally lose. Thats why i never polled QOT or Marry My Husband . I asked about it and just did it. I dont poll unless i will at peace with the result. I had lovely runner on the poll. It got second. It lost as expected but did well enough for me to consider doing it, which was my plan. I didnt tell people that because it would skew results it it would trap me into a commitment and anything could change down to the last minute I didn’t have enough confidence in Lovely Runner to unilaterally do it. Its not viral enough to feel a loss if not covered. I also want to give folks the chance to get their classic and timeless shows covered. So now is ideal while there is a gap in “need to react kdramas“ such as QOT or Marry My Husband. Now the Classic group is appeased and the New crowd will get there show later. Whenever you see a poll was after i already considered data. I already plugged in the shows into YouTube for analytics, it was the most commonly said show, etc. I Some generes dominate the polls because there audience is large and recommend content of that genere and i aim to please em often until a competing genre emerges viral enough to add it and that slowly effects election results over the long term. The kdrama fans initially weren’t here and went from 0-40% of our patreons. Happens over time on key viral shows creating a big push in whatever direction. Sometimes when you identify a con to something I do. Next question should be…why would he do that despite this con. Lol. So I know Percy Jackson poll looked odd. Lol. Doesn’t look to be in the same categories as snowfall. Correct. I didnt care which show won cuz i liked the idea of any of them. So i ran a poll to see the most popular group we had on patreon and chose that.

Preface: Similar to @LightMyPath Star...keeping it brief isn't in me lol. Also, this is in no way me telling you how to construct your polls. it's just my opinion based on the question posed. I have nothing but respect and appreciation for the work you guys put into the Patreon space. In my opinion, the answer is quite simple. The poll becomes biased when you put new shows up against classic shows. It is similar to the genre question I asked previously. When a poll has four shows of the same genre it's more satisfying to choose and easier to yield more accurate results. This is not to negate that the end goal is to keep variety, raise viewership, and yield metrics that are profitable/cost-effective; yet, polls with timeless classics -vs' new ongoing shows are just too conflicting. More than often you have classic/old shows that the majority has seen multiple times and can watch again competing with new shows some might have never seen and can only reference via the synopsis and reviews of others. The disparity between new -vs- old/classic is too great. When you poll four classic shows or shows of the same genre the level of excitement is much greater. The results yielded are also more beneficial. Lovely Runner should be polled with ongoing or newer shows. At a minimum, it would have a fair chance. I remember you did a poll with Percy Jackson/Wheel of Time/Reacher/Snowfall/House of Usher. I saw that poll and immediately said "HUH this poll is all over the place." It's too inconsistent. Speaking for myself, polls like the e.g. above, always leave me unsatisfied due to having to choose between equal favorites from various genres. Polls with genre titles (Classics Poll, Anime Romance Poll, KDrama Comedy Poll) that are equal in genre, plot, casting, etc. like the e.g. below are fair because each show falls in the same category/genre and we know either has an equal chance of getting selected. Again, these are only examples…. Classics Poll--Mr. Queen/ WW with Sec Kim/ Fight For My Way/ CLOY Crime Suspense Poll-- Snowfall/Power/The Chi/Top Boy Action Crime Poll-- The Boys/ Dare Devil/ Titans/Punisher Well that was my 10 cents because 2 cents could never afford me anything. LOL

So episode 1 and 2 of lovely runner didn't really convince me but I kept watching and now I definitely have to agree with the people that say it got them out of their kdrama slump. It feels so reminiscent of how kdramas used to be but not in the sense that it's only good because it's nostalgic but because it's making me feel excited and invested the way I was when I first started watching dramas. Now I really can't say if you guys would like this show because in my opinion it all depends on whether you connect with the characters or not. So it's either gonna be another Business proposal or another twinkling watermelon. But considering it's rising popularity, I really think it's worth taking the risk.

I understand that but I also remember another drama (time travel inspired) that did everything in 10 episodes. “A time call u” …so this sort reminds me of that and I was way more engaged on that one. In LR There was a lot that seem so drawn out like I don’t need everything spoon fed. Excellent writing gets its point across very quickly I feel that’s lacking a bit in the aforementioned drama. Like I said it’s not a bad drama but it’s not great either I’m not sure if it will do amazingly in the last 6 episodes but rn I don’t feel it will be a classic years to come. I do like the actors and though I believe they have a bit of lazy writing in it the script is not bad. But I stand by my opinion unpopular as it is. However if Lee end up reacting to it I will watch it just the same. It’s why I have been here for over 2 years I love whatever reactions we get because they are always good. So I may only be 1 person that feels this way but I will say what I think of it logically n sincerely because I’m not emotionally attached to it so it’s easy to dissect. This is the reason I don’t get behind unfinished projects I personally need to see the whole picture before even recommending anything at all. Hope that clears things up.

Oh it's truly an unpopular opinion since you're the first one I've seen saying lovely runner is slow paced. A lot of people including me think it's well paced and maybe a lil bit fast like so much happened in just 10 episodes now that people wonder what's gonna happen for the rest 6 eps. Spoiler alert: she's already been on her last chance to time travel, they've been through high school era, modern era and now college era, include the past story unfolding, I don't think all of those can happen in just 3 or 4 episodes otherwise it would confuse the hell out of the viewers. Anyway it's all about personal preference so maybe there are people who think the same way as you, interesting to hear you thought!

lovely runner!! production is great! can be a bit cheesy but the actors and production make up for it! storyline is good too! Ok so I have thoughts…I would like to say that I’m going to be brief, but let’s face it my comments are always too damn long. So “Lovely Runner” it still ongoing, though is not a bad show it’s not wowing me at all. Not because of tropes or anything sometimes those are great when done properly. I’m just not that invested and I’m on episode 10 or further I already forgot that’s how I know I’m not really that crazy about it. Again the cast is great yk good decent actors but somehow it’s really not grabbing my attention as much. Is not bad but not great. I think that it is new and popular rn so people are connecting with it. I’m just not there at all yet. Like I said I’m on episode 10 or whatever last episode aired this week. So I’m not going to vote for it or recommend it because it’s way too slow paced and I feel that, whatever I watched already could have been told in 3 or 4 episodes. They definitely stretching to fill the 16 ep gap in their schedule(Viki that is) I know a lot of people want that show because of the subject matter but I simply haven’t been able to immerse myself in the story. I wholeheartedly agree with the people who are saying that lovely runner is an unexpected hit. The lack of promotions for the show and the leads from TvN was very disappointing. It was so apparent to the point where both knetz and intl fans decided to heavily put pressure on TvN and the fl lead’s agency (she barely promoted compared to the ml). TvN did published a statement two days ago that they’re planning a big event for the show and the whole cast due to its popularity. Promotions will also begin for the fl lead within the next two weeks.

If I remember correctly, the accusations for the drama regarding the idol part of the story was made wayy before the drama aired (purely on speculations). And knetz was not the one pushing these accusations but more of the international audience if you look through the comments on tvn posts back then. When the drama came out, the accusations turned out to be false. And since lovely runner is more than half-way through now, many ppl are tuning in (especially on the koreans side)

There’s definitely a difference btw the popularity of queen of tears and lovely runner but rn lovely runner does have a big following on OTT & SNS. From what I’m seeing, most of the buzz is coming from Korea than internationally, seeing how the leads are gaining popularity and many celebs/idols are tuning into the show atm (even the tvn or the broadcasting station is trying to hold a fanmeeting for the show after it ends)

Mon/tues slot don't have same tv ratings as weekend shows. Lovely Runner or other weekdays show are targeted to be watched on OTTs, for which it's been on TOP in ott ratings comparing to last 2-3 year's data. Tv ratings is not the only criteria for being successful in the times of netflix and other streaming services 🤷‍♀️

Seems like after QOT everyone just watched it especially since they wanted something fun to ease the pain that QOT caused lol. I see it a lot on my TL now but most that I see are the negative things that surrounds it (then occasional behind the scenes of the leads); On facebook, I see posts about how the korean netizens were saying it was referencing something from a real idol's tragic life. On twitter, the lovely runner and qot fans fighting because some LR fans were starting to sht on QOT after the show got more popular and then QOT fans fighting back saying LR is onky making noise because the main leads were always cheek to cheek on interviews as to get attention whilst the Leads in QOT didn't have to do any of that but is still more popular. It's been a while since I last saw kdrama fandoms fight so i'm having a lot of fun LOL

I think a lot of people only start watching it last week once queen of tears ended. The network didn't promote it very well and was very focused on queen of tears so it wasn't that big until a week ago. I also only just started it a week ago and now I can't think about anything other than that silly drama. But it's a good enough drama and if they kept the story up till the end then I'm sure it will still be popular later on even if you start covering it after fight for my way. People already started saying it's their most favorite kdrama. It has potential to be a timeless one. Tho you can also cover 3 kdramas and put it only once a week or something if you really don't want to miss the momentum. Whatever makes you comfortable.

Lovely Runner is almost an anomaly . A real lightning in a bottle hit. The two leads have great chemistry. It’s very well acted across the board . It really reinvigorated people’s interest in kdramas. It’s really hard to do time travel shows, dramas and movies . But this one really does a great job and adds some original elements to it too

I have never seen korean reactor to reaction to a Kdrama 🤣, so many famous idols and k- actors are doing reenactment of viral scenes from Lovely Runner, it's very fun seeing all this craze in real time. Only 3 weeks are left, I'll miss this experience 🤭

From what I remember, it was only 60%, while Queen of Tears was 57% and at that time, QOT was sharing the spotlight with Lovely Runner so the rating makes sense. Now that QOT has ended, everyone is going for LR because the other ongoing dramas are meh.

Lovely Runner had the same hype and vibes with Twinkling Watermelon. It is also about time travel catered to teens and it is super hyped right now mainly because of the super attractive male lead, the relatability of the female lead's character (a fangirl) and because Queen of Tears has already ended. I feel like lovely runner is one of the best rom coms this year. Apart from like queen of tears, there hasn't been a lot of kdramas this year that have caught my attention and made me so invested. The show is just cute, funny, and keeps you kinda guessing what is gonna happen and I just love me some classic pulling at my heart strings type show. I really wanted it to win the poll cause I had a feeling if it lost, probably won't be picked up to be reacted to on the channel but yeah I'm still here for the Mr queen and fight for my way reactions for sure.

Marvelous yes and no. Thats the theory i am working on. Allowing free users to participate in the first layer and increase the likelihood of joing as paid members. But i am still conscious of the notion of a free user remaining just that. I just started doing this and i pay attention to names and subscriber rates. So i can see if free membership does lead to paid membership. Thats why i am pushing free membership for polls and general updates

Actually lovely runner is gooddd but i think ppl also vote based on how they felt when they watch those shows the first time. Both fight for my way and mr queen were really popular among others when they were out and that's part of how ppl remember it as great dramas. Yea but if a show only wins with the help of free voters. I wouldn’t want that anyways. Haha. Cuz i am also conscious that fee users may not consume the same as paid users and i rely on the paid users to survive.

As far as I remember the percentage difference between Mr. Queen and Lovely Runner on the poll was close enough that I thought you was gonna do a second poll with just the 2 of them like you sometimes do. It was real close.

Lovely Runner is definitely one of the best RomCom of last few year. Not only internationally but Korea is literally having a CRAZE of lovely runner these days. WORTH THE HYPE 🙌

Bascically with Lovely Runner is mixed reaction because a couple netizens were online saying the show was about a beloved/iconic idol who sadly passed away in like 2017, committing ‘sue a side’ (I didn’t wanna put the actual word). They were digging into the show and claiming the writers were romanticizing his death. When really it’s just a show about an idol. But I have a feeling they only watched one or two episodes and started hating on it after one similarity. But imo I’ve enjoyed the show so far and see no real similarities between the show & the actual idol.

I think lovely runner has gained more attention since the poll but I personally also voted for Mr.Queen because I wasn’t sure when it would make it in a poll again. Also once I saw that it had 100 more votes than lovely runner I kinda gave up on voting for it😂

Plus every episode that airs/gets released it gets more and more popular. A lot of idols and actors watch it and just a few days ago after episode 10 aired it was reported that a million gifs were made about a scene from lovely runner

I’m not entirely sure why either. But I did read some comments on your YouTube community posts saying that they didn’t even know that it was free to vote on the polls when you wrote that lovely runner lost the poll and that it was free to vote in the polls and I also think that because of that by reading some of the comments that I don’t think that some were even aware that lovely runner was in the poll until it was too late 🤷🏽‍♀️

It's really hard to say. Personally after checking out 1st episode of each (Lovely Runner, Fight for My Way and Mr Queen), I immediately started Lovely Runner. Must be the personal preference. I thought Lovely Runner was kinda close though, in the last poll? Wasn't it 2nd after Mr Queen? Also, now the show has 10 episodes out, so maybe more people are starting it? I know I waited for a while.
