I think they just constantly present her as super mature and even the tone she uses when she talks to Mark feels a little condensending like the way an adult talks to a child. So when she doesn't react maturally at the end of season 1 it rubs you the wrong way when it feels like both the show and amber herself have designated her the 'mature one'

My problem is that they made it that she knew his secret but kept quiet about it and then acted like she didn't know during that college incident and then got mad for him for "ditching" them when shit was going down. The only way that makes sense is that she purposefully sat on this to get mad about it and blew up at him when she knew the truth, which is just a petty thing to do.

She's not stupid, she knows he's saving lives, but she can still feel conflicted on the relationship, just like Debbie was before she even had Mark. Besides Amber's main job is feeding the homeless.... shes not evil

Her being black in the show really had nothing to do with her likability, the show if anything made her a bit more likable because Amber was way more unlikable in the comics, race really has nothing to do with it in her case.

They all trying to come up with reasons to be mad at her because "I hate that she's black" isn't the kinda shit people react well to. It really is that simple. Amber is fine as the typical "normal girl dating a super hero" archetype.

2024-04-01 03:39:50 +0000 UTCFor me it’s just that there was really a conclusion about it in season 1. Not a real serious talk about it. She practically breaks up with him because she had enough which is fair. But when he almost dies she just is there and is like “ok we’re dating again?” And then they are. Like I know right then and there wouldn’t of been the time to talk about it but they should of had some sort of conclusion. Apologies made to both sides and promises to work harder at the relationship. Instead we had to wait until things were at the breaking point all over again to have the talk. And then bad luck comes along and Amber almost dies from a viltramite. If anything. The biggest lesson is the main characters on this show can’t ever catch a break so we should stop expecting them to get one 🤣😭
