2024-03-30 05:13:29 +0000 UTCif this is what youd choose in terms of a second drama id rather a classic like k2 or healer or vagabond which has been mentioned a few times or even something recent that flew under few reactors radar which is "good mother bad mother" which is just amazing and hooks you like crazy and is easy to watch on netflix but i wouldnt be against it if you find it interesting ofc

I do not recognise the rest of the cast, so by mediocre I mean no heavy hitters involved in this project.

It's just that if i had to guess before watching any of it, i'm honestly 99% convinced that it is going to be pretty bad (and to be fair, if you're skilled writer/director/w/e; why would you not be confident enough to write your own original work rather than try to profit of something well-known ?). Anyway, i would love to be surprised, it's a great feeling to be proved wrong on something you didn't have much hope for.

2024-03-29 17:03:08 +0000 UTCI am comparing it to the live-actions i tried to watch in the last decade or more, be it Korean's ones or Japanese, there has been a ton of tentatives. The only decent one that i could remember was a pretty faithful adaption of Death Note in a 2015 Kdrama i think that was way way better done than the Japanese' Movies for exemple.

Now my problem is that those live-actions are almost always a way to try to get some easy money without investing much in it by counting on an existing audience to simply watch it because it's based on a well-known work that they like.

On the other hand the director made Train to Busan so there is a chance, I'll definitely give it a chance but I have low expectations

We get to watch and be completely surprised As a person who does not like watching the same thing over and over this is refreshing Also since it’s Korean I wouldn’t compare it to anything else you have seen. Give them an open-minded chance because they often don’t disappoint in my experiences. Like perfect example if it was an American product I would be skeptical from the start. That doesn’t mean Koreans always produce something good or Americans always produce something bad. I just know Americans often insert our own agendas that take away from a good story. Even if it ends up bad typically the Korean content focuses on a good story
