I'm also a grown man and a home owner too, you don't have to try to demean me for paying attention to one of my hobbies. I like dub anime in my free time because it allows me to not be super locked in 24/7 and that's how I know sentai is a mess. Vinland Saga, Haikyuu, and Oshi no Ko all have notoriously bad dubs done by them.

2024-03-29 21:56:07 +0000 UTCi can almost guarantee there was a cup with a bunch of paper slips with names on it involved in the process 😂 Nah, but fr it's likely cause the budget for the project went into the animation and left very little left to pay top billed VAs so they had to go with budget VAs and thus we end up with underpaid and under invested actors who probably don't care about the work much less the acting 😒

2024-03-29 03:15:07 +0000 UTCgreenb3ar, a lot of people thought it was an English original because it premiered on Adult Swim in English, which is sort of unusual for any anime to "premiere" in English... at least I can't recall any... so they gave the dub a chance. I wasn't familiar with Sentai, but when I looked it up, there were barely any titles listed that I've watched, and of the few I have I hadn't heard the dubs, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I was really hoping to see Cowboy Bepop, FMAB, Code Geass, or one of the better dubs up there. I'm personally convinced that AoT is one of the worse dubs ever, so not seeing that one gave me hope, lol.

Japan takes their voice acting seriously, from tens of thousands of hopefuls with only a very small percentage actually making it, with even smaller numbers making it big. I did give your ninja kamui dub react a try but i dropped it a like 3 episodes in.

I got better but a lot of us just watch whatever yall hype with no knowledge of the source material or studios. Nobody I talk to in real like outside of Director or AdorkableNerd talk about anime or comics in depth. I only know these things through you guys. And i only read things i am interested.

2024-03-28 20:35:07 +0000 UTCI thought I was the only one that noticed, lol, although I did see one set of reactors mention that the dialogue didn't seem good in the last episode, but they joked, it's our fault for watching the dub. Haven't seen your latest reactions yet, but when the first few episodes dropped, I preferred sub, but didn't mind watching dubbed reactions. I know the series was originally Japanese, and was dubbed by Sentai Studios out in Texas. All that said, to my ear, the dub has progressively gotten worse with each episode, and it was very noticeable in the last one. It feels as if the enthusiasm they had for it in the first episode just slowly disappeared, and it became more of a chore to do it, just reading lines as you say.

Literally give me less then an episode to put Japanese voices to faces and I’m good. I haven’t heard the Japanese version but I agree it was atrocious. And the voice acting director on set approved of that? What company is doing the English translations?
