Kdrama Survey
Added 2024-03-26 13:16:05 +0000 UTCAfter reading some of your remarks yesterday I was curious of the general state here on Patreon and I’m gonna do the same survey on YouTube and see how they compared to each other.
Which do you like more?
I define new shows as anything under 1 yr old for simplicity sake.
This is not a spot for suggestions…Lol. We got that in yesterdays posts

The reason why I search for new reaction channels is because I am searching for an old show I enjoyed a lot or a not so popular new show. I found your channel through the reincarnated assassin anime. If I ever watch a new hot show and want reactions for it, I can easily find and end up going through multiple reactions, but I rarely look at their other reactions. In contrast, I search through the entire playlist of reactors who react to older shows because, usually, I end up finding more old shows that I like from a time when not many reaction channels existed (or at least good ones).

2024-03-27 05:31:28 +0000 UTCwould be nice of u to id say kinda pick a few of these names people are listing and maybe watch a few trailers and see if anything really catches you. i was so into you guys reacting to marry my husband because you was genuinely hooked. id love more like that so i feel you guys should just check out few of the names listed and see what catched your attention rather than what a overwhelming are asking because all these kdramas are popular regardless
respect
2024-03-27 00:53:21 +0000 UTCtheres also real good recent kdramas that kinda was raved about on netflix that no one really recommended but are insanely good "good mother bad mother" main meal lead is from glory and hes in sweet home etc and many others you watched. its pre deep and amazing build up and was on netflix

2024-03-27 00:51:35 +0000 UTCi feel like you guys would love "healer - or k2 etc they are pre classic. action/romance. male lead bad ass falls inlove etc

2024-03-27 00:49:31 +0000 UTCMy answer is probably not helpful at all but I like a balance between timeless classics and new shows :D

2024-03-26 23:26:00 +0000 UTCI kept deleting it cuz i asked foe there not be suggestions and when people see one they continue and by now it just kept happening. I already keep getting emails for suggestions on the last post. There want a need to double that up. It gets overwhelming.

2024-03-26 23:02:52 +0000 UTCThere are a lot of shows from 2020-2022 that I would want y’all to check out so I picked the older/classics option (even if it feels a little wrong to classify them as that lol), but I’m honestly good with a mix. If there’s a new show you’ve heard of that suits your interest then I think you should react to it. Then you can make the next K-Drama something that’s pre-2023. Same thing for genres too. A lot of the time romance dramas get recommended and will win polls for K-Drama reaction channels and those can be good but there are also so many other non-romance K-Dramas that I wish people would check out too. You have a pretty good mix, genre wise, of the ones you’ve reacted to, so I think as long as you keep that up and do a mix of newer and older shows you’ll be fine. I think if you solely concentrate on newer or older shows or a specific genre etc. is when you can potentially alienate people. Oh, and I know views are important but I hope that periodically you’re willing to give shows a chance that haven’t really been reacted to by big channels before, especially if you see the audience you already have recommending it. Like Beyond Evil, for example, is an amazing show and was never reacted to by any big channels because everyone reacted to Vincenzo instead (they were released at the same time). It would be nice to see someone periodically give shows like that a chance. Shows that people love that have always been overlooked by big channels.

2024-03-26 22:32:22 +0000 UTCI'd say timeless / older shows because it's so difficult to keep up with so many new kdramas, and it's not like anime where the episodes are really short. If I have time I try to check out new kdramas, but I've been watching kdramas for a while so I'm picky, something is going to have to be super fun for me to complete it (eg marry my husband) and if i'm not impressed I quickly drop the show (eg my demon lol) so most of the time I don't watch or recommend that many newer kdramas (so it's not like they're not good just most of the time I've had no time to watch or it didn't impress me enough so I never finished it). Most of the time I just really want to rewatch my all time favourites but along with someone else and get new perspectives, that's why I watch reactions for the more older/timeless shows.

2024-03-26 21:44:50 +0000 UTCI only watch reactions to shows I’ve seen and I never really watch shows as they come out so I’m never usually interested in reactions to newer ones. Maybe others are similar idk. I tend to stick to a specific genre as well and I’m hard to please so I only have a few favourites I actually look for reactions of.

2024-03-26 21:20:32 +0000 UTCAs far as Kdramas go I definitely prefer the newer ones but that's because I've only been watching a couple years now.

2024-03-26 21:07:14 +0000 UTCgotta peep the kdramas during the 2014-2018 era, for me that’s when kdramas were at a high. “Fated to love you” “Oh My Venus” “Doctor Romantic” “The Healer” and a few others

2024-03-26 20:44:58 +0000 UTCI watch both new and older shows. However, I do think that some of the older classics (2016-2020 especially) hit differently. Many of the current ones tend to try to appeal to a wider market or fast release but not always in a successful way. I'm always open to trying just about any show but I do find that requests often focus on just certain shows or requests for the same ones over and over. Many shows that I consider top tier get overlooked due to more popular ones. That's fine in some ways cause I do really understand picking ones that bring good numbers. But on a personal note, alot of those shows I love were before reaction channels were even a thing. I don't have anyone in my family or friends that even watch kdramas. So when reaction channels became a thing, it has become a fun thing for me because finally I can take part in discussions about these shows and watching along brings others viewpoints or talks about things I might have missed. So sometimes, when I wish for or suggest a show, its because I truly think the show was good or that the reactor will really like it based on their other show reactions. But in spite of all that, each person runs their channel in the way that works best for them and that's the way it should be.

2024-03-26 20:29:19 +0000 UTCThe thing about timeless classics is they require more time to watch. They were made before the recent streaming "standard" of 16 episodes or less, so you'd have some with 18 episodes with at least 1 hour watch time. So I'd say timeless classics but less episodes being posted per week.

2024-03-26 18:32:20 +0000 UTCWhere’s the “I don’t care. I just want heat” option 😂 Ideally, I’d want a great show that also does numbers for the channel. So, I’d lean towards shows like Blood Hounds, Moving, Marry my husband, Attorney Woo, The Glory, The worst of Evil first because they are new or have hype (more likely to do numbers), something y’all would enjoy and great shows. Then I would move on to the classic bangers if nothing else is doing numbers, like Itaewon Class, Healer, Signal, Extracurricular, Strangers from Hell, Reply 1988, Stranger, Misaeng and Beyond Evil etc. There are so many great shows if you go back a couple years (2015-). Basically it’s gotta be heat all the time, if there’s nothing new in the pipeline that is good I think it makes sense to go a couple years back for the classics

2024-03-26 17:26:33 +0000 UTCI am always stressed when its time for a new show. But thank you

2024-03-26 16:39:28 +0000 UTCi feel like older shows are better because its easier to predict if theyre going to be a hit or a miss.

2024-03-26 15:51:57 +0000 UTCI personally like timeless/classic better than recent but, I have been watching Kdramas since 2008 so I've seen a lot that are really worth watching.

2024-03-26 14:52:39 +0000 UTCi vote for the older shows because personally right now I'm not in a position where I have enough time to keep up with lots of new shows and I'm unfamiliar with them. I'd prefer to watch reactions to older shows where it's more likely I've watched and liked the shows enough to want to watch the reactions to it as opposed to new shows that I have to invest more time into.

2024-03-26 14:15:18 +0000 UTCWith newer shows, there is always the relevancy bias, and if it's currently airing, you dont know if it stays the same in quality till the end, most dramas tend to suffer from inconsistent writing towards the end. I think its better to give dramas some time before watching them.
Dilmurod
2024-03-26 14:11:39 +0000 UTCYes and also legend of the blue sea is a classic one!

2024-03-26 14:10:03 +0000 UTCIs it just me or my post being deleted? all im saying is that i want them to react to Descedants of the sun or weightlifting kim bok joo. i get its repetitive but i just want to want the kdrama i love so much :)

2024-03-26 14:07:04 +0000 UTCQueen of Tears is still too early for the hype. It’s only 6 eps in and I like it so far but who knows where the show will go.
Dirty_Oldman
2024-03-26 14:06:49 +0000 UTC1 Kdrama being older classic could be good choice than constantly going for "new" shows only. "My Love From the Stars" is always timeless choice :D

2024-03-26 14:06:14 +0000 UTCIt’s a series of thoughts and that is included. I don’t really have a plan I wanted to see the results and go from there and in this case the result is abundantly clear I don’t think the Queen of tears is hyped up much compared to others so it’s a reasonable time to do a timeless or classic In this survey helped me with my thinking
Rock Lee
2024-03-26 14:02:05 +0000 UTCI care more for reactions to the "older" Kdramas as I tend to like them more but there are also some great new shows "A Shop for Killers" is a good example of this which is why I can't wait for the reaction to it.

2024-03-26 14:01:53 +0000 UTCI’m okay with both, newer ones can be hit or miss. Wouldn’t want you to miss out on capitalizing on a newer show while you can. There’s really only one newer show you haven’t gotten to yet that’ll do numbers on YouTube which you know since you bolded it in your update post. Would happily accept any of the shows that were in bold, new or classic 🙂

2024-03-26 13:58:34 +0000 UTCI honestly like both.

2024-03-26 13:53:18 +0000 UTCIt probably takes more time for people to find reactions to older/timeless drama on YT, because they might not search for it immediately when it's posted, but personally I end up looking for reactions to the dramas I've just watched or my old favorites every once in a while. And in the end, will be happy to check out the reactions whether the show is newer or older. But if I can only choose one, then definitely timeless option.

2024-03-26 13:47:43 +0000 UTCAre you planning on doing a test to see if people will watch reactions for older kdramas?

2024-03-26 13:34:18 +0000 UTCTbh it just depends on what the show is. I don’t care when it came out, just if I like it. I like the mix that you react to and whilst there hasn’t been anything recently that interests me, I know there will be in the future!
Em
2024-03-26 13:34:00 +0000 UTCAs long as I get to see y'all react, I don't care about how old or new the Kdramas are. Not sure why, but I only watch reactions to shows I've already seen.
Alicia Mosby
2024-03-26 13:33:45 +0000 UTCFor sure timeless and classics. They are proven by time and not just hyped up because of them being newer. There are so many good and gold kdramas that are just older

2024-03-26 13:29:14 +0000 UTCI'm not sure you did ask that. It may be the way my brain translated question (which happens to me from time to time) . I thought you were asking what do we define as a new show.

2024-03-26 13:23:52 +0000 UTCI'm so confused. How are timeless or classics defined as "new"? Maybe that means new to these reactors? 🤔
