How using a first name is such a big step in friendship and relationships and we in the West that little things like that for granted. I have always said that things like that and respecting someone who is considered a senpai there are lost here. So many new employees treat me with disrespect even though I have been with the company for 13 years. Regardless of our age difference that would rarely happen in many South Asian cultures like Japan. π§

As far as not telling her it was his bday I really just think its cause she was busy working, which he tells his sister the day before, and thats why its so last minute. Whenever he does/doesnt do something out of insecurity they really play it up and make it obvious that thats the reason why, so thats why I dont belive he didnt tell her out of insecurity.
