One: He’s testing how much Yamada actually trusted Ichikawa to let Ichikawa knows how much his girl trusted him too. Hence why after Yamada replied with, “Don’t lie to me,” he looked over at Ichikawa and half winked at him like “See how much your girl trusted you (wink).” Two: He wanted to lessen Yamada’s guilt about rejecting him during his graduation day. The girl who likes him saw what he was trying to do, and confronted him about why lie to make Yamada hate him more.
