this episode was excellent , the acting was amazing . they really brought some of the best korean actors for the show

Sne Msomi

THIS LONG essay re summoned me hahaha. Yeah. I dont view him as depressed. Just negative and hard on himself. That being said this long explanation reinforcing shame and respect in Korea is something i dont think i kept in mind as much while watching and changes my view slightly. Status and career are very very important culturally more than Americans. There are moments when our lack of values is appreciated. You can be anyone you want here because we have sooooo many cultures and varies where in America you live. Good good explanation. Thank you.

Rock Lee

Also yes, in Korea if you have kids you can get compensation due to the government pushing for population growth. But I thought it was more than one kid for that I’m not sure 🤔 But then again if that’s not the case another reason they probably won’t give up the kid is due to either societal and familial pressure (given that they look pretty well off) They probably accidentally had the kid and shawty is going through post partum and her dumbass husbands is just listening to her irrational ass as well. Follow suit in the abuse. It’s so sad frfr

I’m gonna have to disagree with you because in the first episode it shows you he was actually a very confident, intelligent and driven man. He always looked at things positively or actively tried to change it (ex: his life growing up as a poor youth with a single parent getting into an amazing school blah blah) Those things ended up changing and his inner dialogue became negative due to essentially losing everything ( which realistically makes sense. Anyone would feel or react the same way) The man was literally going through a traumatic experience (which 9/10 lead to ptsd) and after that he couldn’t find a job from that point. Then the people around him didn’t necessarily understand what he was going through either. He wanted to talk to his gf about what happened but she at the moment didn’t know what he needed was a shoulder to cry on but ofc giving it was 7 years she probably got tired of that which is why he made his decision based off her reaction ( not her fault btw. Having a depressed love one is hard) When you’re working so hard and the person you love the most tells you “why don’t you just work harder” after maybe the second worse day of your life… it’s very understandable why he behaved the way he did. Also this may be a cultural thing so you may not understand why he is obsessed with money and status. In Korea culturally having a decent respectable job and a good family = success. Success= being able to move through society with less judgement. Being able to take care of yourself and family is highly valued. Which this story is based on/ creating a topic of conversation about. This is the reality for a lot of young people in Korea. Lack of jobs/competition and the crazy work hours and environments…. It’s insane and damn near inhumane if you ask me but that’s a societal expectation so it’s normalized. Which makes sense why he is the way he is. He represents the more overt side of this. Since he wasn’t able to do that he became obsessed with the “results” of the solution and not the actual process and solution. Which again culturally is on brand because unfortunately mental health conversations are barely getting out of the “taboo” category there. So access to proper mental healthcare may be hard without proper insurance or even money + time for it( Also why Korea is suffering from high exiting percentage) He wasn’t always negative is my point. Also having constant negative inner dialogue that affects your day to day and having thoughts of exiting are big signs of depression. His actions in themselves such as self depreciation, self sabotage (breaking up with his gf over a misunderstanding plus feeling sorry for himself) , and essentially being so selfishly into oneself is very reminiscent to those who suffer mental distress/depression. Unfortunately in this story death is going based off of Christian belief systems so that means he gotta be a little insufferable to make the “punishment” deserving but also make his (don’t know the ending just assuming) redemption even more triumphant if he survives.

At least this guy might be better than Takemitchy in handling his girlfriend dying and have little bit more brains while doing his revenge :D

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Asseret

wait really???

def

the funniest thing about this reaction is how yall went the whole reaction really thinking man's landed on some lady 🤣

Mochi

i whole heartedly disagree. depression can cause you to think negatively. it's literally the invisible voice in your head that tells you that every positive thought you have is wrong. it's totally fine you don't think that from your pov but i don't think they're trying to debunk that he is depressed or get you to hate the protagonist, i think they are trying to show you multiple perspectives and that humans are not one dimensional. you can be depressed and also be smart and funny and romantic and have a shallow outlook on life. i know because i am one of those people. i actually learned a lot from watching this show because i related a lot to the protag. minus being materialistic.

Mochi

ayyye glad someone else commented this too hehe

Mochi

38:48 so there's a little bit i really wish they translated, when he said "i je" in korean it means "i still" but it sounds like Yi Jae which is his first name. That's why she made that face when he said "i je, i je" twice. such an important little detail that really made that scene so haunting because it's like he was telling her his name without telling her at the same time

Mochi

I started to have more sympathy for MC in this episode because I realized that the only reason he didn't think much of how people would react to his death (i.e. asking his ex-gf if she was "better now" after he died) is because that's how little he thought he mattered to people. Like he thought he was so insignificant and unloved by the people around him that he didn't even realize they would mourn/miss him after he died. He finally realizes how big his absence is felt when he sees his ex and his mother crying and mourning for him.

Olive Abum

My believe is that we pay for it regardless hell or here u best believe we pay. But I understand your view it’s a nice perspective

LightMyPath Star

I think the point of showing you his personality in the first few episodes it’s to show that the guy is not depressed he is a negative person that only focus on the negative parts of his life. He also give money and status(him complaining about getting old without a secure job) too much importance. In this episode you get to see that he didn’t appreciate all the small things and all the love he got. He chose to give money and status more importance than anything else. So mental health had nothing to do with it, he gave up, simply because he felt entitled to a better life. To summarize the man is shallow af. Let’s call a spade a spade ♠️

LightMyPath Star

I will sound like a broken record, But this Show is FIRE 🔥 Fire I tell ya!!!

LightMyPath Star

YOOOOOOHOHOHOHOHOOO This was a craaazy ass episode!! My heart, soul n mind are all exhausted... Need to sleep for at least 5 days after this

Julian Fernando

Yeah translucentmin. I don’t believe people should go to hell for “alt f4” but my faith tells me and it appears this show follows that principle coming from a super natural position. Its my belief that i go to hell and its not my decision. What I am seeing is you may have a wildly different take if you don’t believe that. Think i went 35 years without considering it? Hahaha. It can get dark real fast. I happen to not go that route here. For no particular reason. I am done with that part of my life and I dont want to reminisce on it even to enhance a discussion. Its Dark and i am not going back 😭😭😭

Rock Lee

Lol, I'm sure they mean no harm though. But like depression isn't rational 😭 it doesn't care if you have people that care around you. Your brain tells you that you don't. It's a sickness. Which is my one gripe with the show, and with people that say you should go to hell if you alt f4... but I digress

translucentmin

38:35 He actually said his name here, "Yeejae" sounds similar to "ije" which means now. That's why she looked so sad hearing his name

Dilmurod

His ability to survive these encounters is simply debatable at this point. So i don’t mind you feel that way. I just listen. I happen to believe the character Death. If you think she is dishonest. Then ok 🤷🏽‍♂️

Rock Lee

I hear ya. Not all 3 of us have the same opinion btw. Remember I supported him trying to get the money. But i get frustrated with his decision making. I even get excited that he talks smack to Death. Keep watching and pay attention to who says what. Also i don’t generally argue or debate with AdorkableNerd as i would Director. She will go on a long point and i just nodd and or ask a key question and i acknowledge the part i agree on. I avoid arguing with AdorkableNerd on anything opinion related. But the 3 of us have vastly different opinions but we all believe Death when she says it’s survivable. On duo reactions you can clearly see what director and I disagree on and we directly argue

Rock Lee

I feel like some of the questions that you guys are asking could easily be answered if you take into account that Death is actually an As*hole. Sure she's trying to teach MC a lesson but she made it clear from day 1 that she's doing this because he looks down on her. Other than the Skydiver he stood no chance of surviving any of his previous death(Greed or not). 12. None of the plane personnel even hinted at a parachute, 10. He would've still blame MC cause the other bullies wouldn't stop just cause MC did, 9. John Wick is a international criminal, 8. Dad would've spun back regardless, plus original body must of been on crack thinking he could threat someone who uses money to make their problems go away. 7. Unnecessary cruelty 6. self explanatory. Also, I'm not commenting this because i want you to sympathize w/ the mc, its fine if you guys don't like him, i'm 100% for authenticity but it seem like you guys are still on this money thing but regardless of him chasing money or not, it would not make any difference.

Ren

Struggle is real I know 😁

martina1712
