Fuyou also wasn't snatched like MM, she was one of the many local princesses within the empire and she happened to be the princess chosen from her kingdom to go to the rear palace. Normally a military officer never could've married his kingdom's princess but due to his recognition by the emperor and Fuyou's low value to the emperor both as a potential concubine for himself or as a tool for political marriage with unaffiliated kingdoms they were able to pull it off but its still hinted that the emperor wasn't keen on it because they said the officer was insistent on her as his reward.

Little extra knowledge from Imperial China, but the Emperor was seen as a god far more divine than in western kingdoms. So what you talked with the concubines most if not all of them were not kidnapped but sent from noble families, daughters of generals and kings all for the lucky opportunity to be near the divine emperor who rules all under the heavenly blue sky :)

We push back and we speak out. That's why people say we're "liberal snowflakes" cause they don't understand how we could all be so vocal about our issues. That's just how we were raised. "A closed mouth doesn't get fed and a closed mind is a waste of time."
