Yes they loved each other already but if they were both back in their homeland (one of emperors vassal states) they could have never been together because Fuyu was a princess after all and the man had not high enough social standing to realistically to be able to marry royalty. But when Fuyu became emperors (mid-rank) concubine and the man joined the emperors military there was a chance.

2023-11-06 21:29:32 +0000 UTCBeauty wasn't the main factor the Emperors would look for in a concubine, since they're all objectively beautiful; it was their other skills and intellect that they were ultimately chosen for to create the most well rounded royal children. Her stumbling before her dance "proved" that she lacked natural grace and so she wasn't suited to bearing the Emperor's children, but was still a princess and the Emperor's property.

2023-11-04 17:43:59 +0000 UTCIf you guys were wondering why Gaoshun gave MaoMao the nickname XiaoMao, thats because in Chinese, the word Xiao (小) means small or little, while MaoMao (猫猫) translates to CatCat. Combining them together you make (小猫) XiaoMao which translates to Small Cat or Little Cat 🐱

This was now twice (havent finished ep) hes basically told her to stop being so damn compelling and yet she continues to open up new key differences between her and the rest of th women. my thoughts atleast

2023-11-04 07:39:55 +0000 UTCBased on everyone around Maomao already speculating there's more to the story of the concubine Fuyou, I believed the Emperor being the Top Man himself, definitely heard something too. Especially if we speculate Jinshi is more than what he lets on, he would have told the Emperor something, all the stories Maomao has told them. Most likely the Emperor acted disinterested in her and let her go. The Emperor definitely knows about Maomao, enough to know she's an Apocathery to look for her at the end.

2023-11-04 04:34:12 +0000 UTCI mean they did say that only the Emperor, his kin & eunuchs are allowed at the rear palace besides wahmen, so it's technically 100% legal if truu Also yeah it should be the emperor, since the author I think ripped off that design on the torso area from IRL Chyna, since it's the symbol of the emperor in all the other Chynaman Court drama thingies. I think it's the equivalent to some type of personal variant of an Imperial Seal, given its round shape & all that
