@20:10 I think she placed a barrier around the sapling that expanded as the tree grew, creating a safe haven. Over time, humans naturally gathered there because of the protection it provided. A similar concept appears in Tales of Vesperia, if you've ever played it. Areas protected by barriers that keep monsters out eventually grew into cities, as they were the only places where humans could be safe.

2023-10-30 15:50:16 +0000 UTCDemons also surpassed Zoltraak 50 years ago tho, hence why he knew instantly that the spell isn't Zoltraak by any metric anymore, as it's a customized spell by Frieren to BTFO Demons specifically (so like 10x crit multiplier vs demons or w/e you have bidya gaem wise). But if Quaal had managed to survive longer post-petrification, he would have instantly leaped ahead of Humans & Demons once again. It took him like 1 min to see the anti-Zoltraak barrier magic, and he instantly replicated it (without seeing the schematics it's constructed with, just based on the end-result of the spell alone) compared to how many years it took for Fern to do so to stable enough level. He'd prolly have figured out how to counter the 80 years more modern barriers within a few days, rendering his upgraded version of Zoltraak effective against defenses once again

2023-10-29 00:58:21 +0000 UTCWhat I got from their explanation is that Demons are often the ones perfecting magic over years and years, but the way humanity keeps up is by basically stealing it lol. Zoltraak is a prime example since it was literally groundbreaking stuff of its time and now humans are over here wielding it all over the place. Although I think Frieren is a big contributor to that, I theorize that humans are more adaptable than the Demons, hence how they have been keeping up all this time.
