So the last episode used "Second String" as is understood as an insult and not a literal statement. BUT BUT when you considering the people were given powers by the government since they were government ops, "Second String" can mean..you are inferior and you are inferior because your product is a knockoff whatever made us stronger..... Now if you have the later knowledge than you also know for sure what was meant when she said "second string"
In the future episodes it has shown enough to really really make you think about the Orgin of powers but have not gotten an answer yet and will see after more watches.
By watching ahead it does cushion from hints or spoilers that people say thinking it's harmless....but anyways I hope you get the point.
