Totally right, it’s all over the place. To add on. If you are coworkers, and your manager told Pete to show you the ropes, Pete is your sunbae. Graduated from the same school, anyone who also went to same school before you, are your sunbae. If you are the sunbae, those younger than you are hoobae It can be used a title/name, sunbae when you are tight, sunbae-nim, you are adding an extra bit of respect on the title. Or kissing up. Or being a smart ass, when your sunbae is being a schmuck.

I agreed Lee, it is boring when people dont even laugh or react to scenes and the actors expressions etc its weird to me. I talk so much myself...can you tell with all my lengthy commentary, just saying Do YOU and Be YOU, anybody has a problem with that I say they can fight me in the comments!

I have no idea how far ahead you recorded these episodes, but figured Id mention it since its releveant to all kdramas anyways, you will hear/see it alot so good to know. At 14:47 he says "Sunbaenim" though the translators just wrote "Sunbae", but either way thats not his name. Sunbae is actually a term used to call someone else who is like your senior. Its sorta similar to how in anime they say senpai, though not an exact comparison since its used in slightly different scenarios. But I figured this comparison would make it easier to understand what kind of word it is.

Speaking in the generation thing. In ep 1 they said that the grandson is the first male to be born in a few generations. I think it's passed down father to son but in this case it became father to grandson. The shop owner just takes a word or phrase from whats being said to her and then associates it with something else and uses it to change the subject. When they said dialect it's because she was TRYING to use sattoori which is a type of dialect in korea like how in the US the ppl in deep country sound wayy different from those in the North and the midwest.
