first trailer looked cringy for me personally (i always expect bad adaptations from anime to live action) plus the fact that zoro locked up in a location that looks very alabasta (sand walls) where as the island he was on is a stoney seaside village but the second trailer got me lol

No matter how down to the T they managed to perfect dialogue it will still come off as super cringey and cosplay like to majority of the viewers watching. This is a tail as old as time in regard to anime to film adaptation, in my honest opinion, I feel like live action only works with inspiration from anime not full on adaptation.

Zorro looks impressive, although i feel he needs to be rougher. Usopp didn't really say much in the trailer so i can't comment. Nami is kinda meh in the trailer, but to be fair her character isn't something you can really showcase in a very short scene, And it's a movie so it'll very compressed, i got no expectations.

2023-06-19 17:43:22 +0000 UTCDB Evolution, Death Note, Fullmetal Alchemist, Bleach, Attack on Titan... that's why the hate... awful adaptations, and Cowboy Bebop deserves an honorable mention. That said, Erased and Rurouni Kenshin were great live action adaptations... stick to the source material... things start going south when they start writing their own material. They have a habit of changing characters, their intentions, their backgrounds, removing characters altogether.

2023-06-19 16:37:17 +0000 UTCLive action adaptations have been so bad, so people judge the shows before they are even released.. add to that the fact that it's almost impossible to take an anime filled with goofy characters, and make them live action, without getting mixed reactions. Screwing up Death Note is one thing.. but this is one of the juggernauts of Anime. I do not envy the people who worked on the show because taking on a project like this must be scary, and I wish them all the best. I'm going in open minded, not having watched a single episode.. and I look forward to the reactions 👍

2023-06-19 16:35:25 +0000 UTCLee, come on you know full well why people are not a fan and why we are skeptical of this, time and time again they’ve made live actions of certain anime shows and failed miserably biggest examples being are the catastrophic DB Evolution and the Death Note movie and since we’re talking about those two might as well add The Last Airbender since that was also horrible, now I will admit out of all the live actions this by far looks the best, but that still doesn’t mean I’m not skeptical of it my two biggest concerns are how the fishmen and the zoan type devil fruit users are gonna look in live action.

I just think people are very skeptical because Netflix doesn’t have the best track record when it comes to live action shows/movies of anime’s so people just automatically hate it. Plus it’s very popular to hate Netflix right now lol. Both this and the avatar the last Airbender live action series look very good to me
