2023-05-28 12:25:44 +0000 UTCDon't add all that shit talking to everybody. Most haters just spew shit as their own life is in bad situation and they lash out their own situation to others in comments.

2023-05-28 12:24:05 +0000 UTCOn another note....cyber bullying just looks different here because it's got specific targets. Normani was often sent pictures of people being lynched and beaten and compared to a monkey because she was more famous and getting more recognition than some of the other members of her group and people were telling her to off her self just a few years ago. It's just as bad as other places if not worse because people here are desensitized to the idea of telling someone to drink bleach as a joke that it no longer registers as a serious threat. Troll culture is now the norm. It's okay to bash something people love because of internet privacy laws. "Free speech" as they like to claim keeps them from being punished.

2023-05-20 15:22:58 +0000 UTCOne of the things that I hate about the culture is that not only is the internet slander and hate perpetuated but anonymity is highly provided for those creeps and helps them get away with sending hate and vitriol...as a kpop fan, I've witnessed 3 of my faves alt F4 because of that kind of culture and it's still not talked about enough. In fact it even happens within the companies. Other idols bullying members within their own groups as trainees....like... it's so much bro. There's this Korean webtoon turned animated web series that talks about it really well, it's called "Lookism". Reading it really showcases a lot of what the idol culture is like.

2023-05-20 15:19:10 +0000 UTCI was thinking that it would be more interesting if Akane stole the it-girl instead of the guy on the show, haha! That would certainly be more interesting. But then things turned dark af; that was so sad. It’s just so incomprehensible to me how someone would actually type in all of those hate comments instead of just doing something else or watch things you like. When I don’t like something, I stop watching it and move to something else. It’s common sense, but common sense is not so common…

2023-05-20 13:37:59 +0000 UTCBullying in Japan or cyberbullying is much worse then the states it's just that we don't get news like that form Japan

2023-05-20 09:04:02 +0000 UTCI agree with Adorkable, people are so enveloped in the concept of having and using social media that people have become accustomed to just "dealing with it" as opposed to before it was mainstream.

2023-05-19 02:27:23 +0000 UTCShould look up what happened to Hana Kimura. She was on a Japanese reality Tv show like this and was bullied so bad online she killed her self. She was only 22 years old. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if this part was inspired by that.

2023-05-18 22:50:31 +0000 UTCI'm so fucking glad Aqua saved Akane in the anime, but I'm also so fucking depressed knowing there was no one to save Kimura in real life. @27:30 Director's reaction to Adorkable is absolutely hilarious. Adorkable's so innocent lol! I agree with both Director and Lee over Adorkable on this one, bullying and the shit that people say to each other on social media through their anonymity is absolutely vile. Not even talking about going into wild spaces, sometimes the comments I read here in passing on your videos or YaBoyRoshi's videos are straight up rude for no reason, there's nothing constructive about them at all. And as others have mentioned in the patreon comments already, this scenario of a celebrity being bullied online into death is real: Hana Kimura. Even more to the point... I read that all those twitter posts we saw in the show (such at 'Just die.' @25:43) are word for word what was said in the real life incident. It's actually a tough pill to swallow knowing people actually wrote these things out without thinking and it led to someone's death. @31:16 To answer Lee's question "What do you think is happening that would warrant those people saying those things to her all her life?" I think the reason why people talk so much shit about Akane is because of her quiet and earnest nature. Kinda similar to what Director said but a little different, we're shown she fell in love with acting at a young age, so she's obsessed with acting and she just is a good person by nature. So then we're also shown she puts in a lot of effort because she cares about how others view her and she just wants to perform well. Since she's a bit more on the quiet side as well as she's constantly working, people don't have the time get to know her as much. which could make them think she's too good for 'regular' people. Then because they don't know her, they could have their own personal biases such as: Actors and actresses are always on camera, and anybody who always wants to be on camera must be a stuck-up or self-centered person to want to be recorded all the time. I think people love to talk down on others who are more well off, especially because Akane's doing 'better' than them. @39:35 Yeah I agree with Adorkable, I think it's incredibly unfair the company / her manager would book her for a job and at the very least not prepare her for it. But at the end of the day I gotta imagine that's another line of commentary the author is sneaking in there: that a lot of small actors/actresses don't exactly get to choose their roles, if they want it they have to go for it or else someone will take it. And in hindsight it's even worse because when all this was happening on social media, they knew enough to tell her to not tweet so they could save themselves from more public reputation damage, but they didn't think to provide her any mental support or any kind of support whatsoever. Anyways, I hope I can balance out some of the negative energy you get with some positive energy xD. Thank you for the great reaction/discussion, always thought provoking and well explained reasoning from everyone. Much love to all you guys, see you all again next week, hopefully for a less depressing episode!

2023-05-18 09:49:09 +0000 UTCYou know what's sad? This actually happened to a celebrity called Kimura Hana, she also joined a reality show called Terrace House, got cyber bullied and killed herself. Except in her case nobody was around to stop her.

2023-05-18 08:57:57 +0000 UTCI legit thought Lee was wearing a Pieyon shirt at first. That aside, YBRL's after-episode discussions when talking about heavier topics from the shows reacted to are what made me stay subscribed to this channel.

2023-05-18 00:33:25 +0000 UTCProbably my second favorite episode yet, the way they made is just as how it was in the manga and actually adding on to is incredible.
