I was feeling like maybe he's just trans at first but the more I think about it the more a body swap makes sense cause didn't he look at himself in the mirror and try to kiss it in the first ep? I also think that maybe that lady's son was really protecting her and the only reason it never attacked her before was that it never got injured so it didn't lash out so this time it killed and ate her because it got attacked first.

I interpret the bird/son as an animal that grew to expect food and thus didn’t lash out until the woman tried to withhold it There was actually a real story like this in a zoo, the zookeeper would let a camel there drink a bottle of coke every time he saw her and one day when he didn’t take it one the camel lashed out and either nearly killed or did kill the zookeeper(it’s been a while since I read this story)

I like how all of us have seen so many anime that the moment we hear 'I'm a man', we instantly think about body swaps/possession. We know there are some strange powers in this setting, with Maru having a 'Grasp Heart' ability, the boy in the Heaven falling from massive heights and being without a scratch, the same boy throwing a ball and jumping down the building to catch it (in Ep 1), and one of the girls looking like she has animal ears. I'm curious what all this means lol. I'm getting Promised Neverland mixed with Akira vibes
