I mean, Soo-ah also seems to have been staying away from any kind of relationship her whole twenties just to wait for him, while she had great job and looks like a model so i doubt she was lacking opportunities. I ended up ranting. I think you have a good advice because I already have that caution hence why we don’t use Japanese intros, but if people are going to nitpick, I can’t help them. But I’m also not gonna sit here and say people need to get over it because I know the beef in Asia is real

Honestly that is good advice. I’m well versed in Korean, Chinese, Japanese history after watching the Kdrama Kingdom. We speak with japanese words in every show we watch including the English ones Korean shows are the only ones we avoid the Japanese words. We gonna slip up sometimes because it’s only 2-3 korean shows outta 21 -25 shows a week to exclusively switch up for. AdorkableNerd aa a Japanese cat sound as part of her branding. Folks gonna have to accept we draw inspiration from everything we are exposed so the kdrama fans gonna hear Jamaican, Hatian, Japanese, English. And now you’ll hear us go “bo” more often for when Koreans say “what ?” We like the words and add them to our vocabulary. It’s why all these languages have a word or two that came from another language

Ah, it's quote hard to hear the "ng" sound so I can't really hear it as annyang, but I understand and it's not that it bothers me. I only meant to be informative because it just sounds like "A-nya" since I've heard them do the intro in japanese and she also says "Ore-nya" which makes sense. Personally, I'm not mad, just like to be informative and helpful if I can in case someone doesn't already know. Apologies if it came off aggressive 😅

in my opinion no reasonable person is gonna feel that insulted by someone confusing languages and cultures they're not super familiar with. Anyway... she could say Annyang instead of Annyeong. Since nyangi is a cute term for cats in korean. It doesn't make much sense in korean but I think its fine.

On an episode related note, I related to Yi Seo so much during this episode as I my first love was 10yrs older than me in my early 20s and did the same thing ...but he felt the same even though he hid it because of social expectations and shame. One thing you have to remember is just how behind Saeroyi is because of his time in jail and being out at sea, so for him it's literally social persecution to even consider having feelings for her, so even if he does, I think he is denying it because of that.

Totally understand that the team wouldn't know this but "nya" isn't something Korean people would say... it's Japanese onomatopoeia for cat sound. Korean people say "Ya-ong" . Not sure if you know the extremely complicated history between Korea and Japan but it's...really uncomfortable to confuse anything between the two, so I beg you, please be mindful. Just wanted to put that out there as a half black and japanese American who really loves Korean culture...even I know enough to never confuse the two even jokingly. It's a very very huge insult.

I think it stings the chairman even more when his son says “Royi hyung” instead of Saeroyi. “Hyung” is a term for older brother in Korean. It indicates the relationship l. I’m sure the son also does it to his dad on purpose too, which is even better lol

In the case of Saeroyi he made a decision he likes Soo ah and because he’s emotionally odd. It’s not complicated for him. It’s almost shallow. He’s evolving in that area of his life. He likes Soo ah basically cuz he chose to and thats the end of the story until he is really confronted with what that means. Thats as far as I’d say. But he’s not a normal guy with how he thinks. He makes a decision and goes with it. It applies to all areas of his life

Never said it did but I like to think actions should dictate emotions. What has soo ah done for saeroyi to be pursuing her the way he is? I’m totally fine with him not liking yiseo but I have no clue why he even likes soo ah when she decided to join the family that killed his father then covered it up then sent him to prison then she decided to tell him I’ll only go out with you if you get rich. I really don’t see how anything soo ah has done could lead to a decade+ long crush to the point where saeroyi is a virgin in his 30s and hasn’t even considered another woman in his whole life
