You get older and have seen enough of the same, people will start to appreciate different styles then a lot more. I always try talking only from my own personal likes and everyone can like whatever they want. It's good to have talks about different views as that is what free speech is.

2023-02-18 17:48:28 +0000 UTCI couldnt get into arifureta. that bunny girl is so out of place. maybe its that they were rushing the story but the main guy and the vampire girls personaities seemed to do a complete shift when she shows up and then they are dicks to her for no reason. plus shes not just dumb, but shes boarderline disabled. people like to say aqua is stupid, but shes also sly at certain things and then weirdly arrogant at other times. it makes it funny when she can sometimes get the one up on kazuma, but then also pay for being a dickhead too. it seems like the bunny girl was just added in to make the mc seem just so awesome like some shitty edgelord stuff.

This is why we have "taste" if we didn't then everyone would like the same things lol. Anime is an artform, art is subjective. Personally i don't weigh story that heavily in my case. I don't require a deep narrative to rate something highly.

Just to be clear I wouldn't want Subaru's life, but I wouldn't want any stories Isekai life. What I do want from Isekai is good fantasy story with characters that have depth more than the usual OP isekai MC's we get. Arifureta was for me personally the worst ever made teenager power trope.

2023-02-18 11:17:01 +0000 UTCCid really fills that "chaotic neutral" void for me in isekai. He's clearly NOT a good person but he doesn't go out of his way to be bad either. He's just doing whatever he wants for the shits and giggles and he's dense as a black hole. He's a really fun character to follow. Also, Ainz and Rudy might have a handful of chicks but they both got a mountain of drama on their plates. Cid has like 300 chicks and NO drama. And all of his chicks are boss bitches too. In other shows, if the MC takes two steps away from any of the chicks in his harem then they get snatched up or fall apart or whatever. If Cid leaves any of his girls alone (as he often does) they might just open a freaking McDonald's chain and get richer. xD

2023-02-18 05:33:32 +0000 UTCI'm just pointing out the way you describe isekai you have a different set of parameters to judge it vs other anime. You use the "self insert" description to judge how you feel about it overall (atleast in your video). I feel that's pretty normal for isekai tbh, because I feel that's what the majority of them are going for. Re zero is also that, but it seems to cater more to personalities of people who have mental struggles and are more fragile/overthinkers. Which reflects on the author himself itseems. Mushoku also handles that in its own way but with more broad brush strokes. Same with csm who's author is a complete masochist hence Denji(although not isekai). I do agree though that the character dynamic of eminence in the "support character" category is well done. Story telling wise I think that is mainly because this world already exists and Cid is being thrown into a world that has existed prior to him being in it.

Like Deku was crying but i had All Might, Bakugo, Endeavor, so i can accept that world and Identity with someone else as person i submerge into. Like love DBZ but not for Goku. It’s Vegeta show. Lol. Maybe this is why my approach to Isekai is different.

It's an "interesting" way to look at fiction mainly because he puts those rules and constraints on isekai specifically. It's an extremely subjective way of looking at things so I wouldn't take it so seriously. Imo as Lee just stated Re Zero is much better in regard to story telling, personally I think story wins over character. The reason I say that specifically is if Eminence didn't have a decent story then Cid can't carry the whole thing on his own. For me personally Re: Zero is in my top 15 while Mushoku and Eminence isn't for reasons being any form of tone is important to me other than self insert of fun tones personally.

At least Mushoku impressed you to get to 2nd spot. As for myself why I rate Mushoku & Re:Zero easily in my top 3 over some of your choices is that I want my MC's to have real character growth, not be overpowered, not have women watering in their mouths following him, have to "suffer" to get that MC power and actually have enemies that could instantly Thanos snap their fingers if they felt at the start of the story it was worth their time to kill the MC (Subaru's case they do kill him).
